I suspect the people who wear De Villes aren't the kind of people who post to forums.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why the DeVille gets no love.
That can actually work to your advantage. New DeVilles are often heavily discounted on the grey market and they are really nice watches. Those with the 2500D coaxial movements especially are a huge bargain. My other half wears this one. Gorgeous watch.

I also really dig the railmaster. I think I'm just a contrarian.

I'd still have the limited-edition Railmaster had it had white lume instead of that faux aging.

Some ideas for you. 300M Diver plus
Railmaster LE: Good combo, nicely discounted now

Seamaster 168.023: better combo, excellent parts availability apart from the mid-case

Seamaster 166.022: much better combo

Speedmaster: iconic

I think this thread proves definitively that two watches are not enough.

I second the Seamaster + Speedmaster combo.

I third this. Put that Speedy on a nice alligator strap and bingo - watch that goes - arguably - with everything from a suit to black tie. Go to a nice brown or suede strap with your sport coat. The bracelet or a rally strap or NATO strap for casual. It's a strap monster.

As much as I love the Speedmaster - and I have two - it鈥檚 a tool watch, not a dress watch. Casual Friday at the office, sure. Formal event or serious business meeting with a suit, no.

I agree it's intended to be a tool watch, 100%. It doesn't meet any of the traditional expectations for a dress watch. Literally none of them. Yet the iconoclast in me sees one on a nice strap with a suit and thinks, "that works somehow."
Personally though, I'd put a black lizard on my Seamaster Deville for such an occasion. Probably...

EDIT: Or just wear a Casio G-Shock and call it "God Tier."

You think Aqua terra is too similar?

Personally, I don't think an Aqua Terra is at all similar to your blue dialed 300M. Assuming you don't go with blue. There are many Aqua Terra models that can be dressed up and down quite a bit and are terrific all-round watches.

Standing by for @gbesq 's contrary opinion. 馃槑

Nope, I actually agree with you on that point. The only criticism that I have of the Aqua Terra line generally is that high polish stainless steel bezel - looks great initially, but it鈥檚 a scratch and smudge magnet. That鈥檚 one of the reasons that I like the Globemaster with its tungsten carbide bezel - you could launch missiles at that thing and it would still look great.
