My wife's little watch collection

She is proud of her small collection and watching me browse the forum, wanted me to share. Just a few years ago she'd have at most a fitness tracker or a smartwatch. Nowadays she's wearing a watch 24/7. I think I did well and proud of her.

Her taste is specific. Both the PRX and the Zenith Pilot were anniversary gifts. The 165.008 she saw in my watch drawer and liked it for herself 🤷🏻‍♂️

Mrs Spruce always wears a Longines Dolce Vita.
One is the stainless steel version and the other is gold/stainless steel.
Like Mrs GG, she knows what she likes.

But she only ever seems to wear a damned Apple watch......she's always buggerising about with the stupid thing

I bought the wife an Ebel Quartz dress watch from my watchmaker. She wears it on dressy occasions. Her main source of time keeping is her “pocket watch” (IPhone).

My wife has a handful of watches. The star of the show is the diamond-bezel MOP Speedmaster that she received from a previous employer for being a top performer. I've also given her a few watches including a nice black 2639 that she really appreciates and wears often. She wanted a men's Rolex at one point, so I got her an Air-King. Unfortunately, she never wears it, so that was a lesson learned. She also claimed a couple of entry-level watches that I foolishly mentioned I was going to sell at various times, a Helbros skin-diver and an obscure French Valjoux 7730 chronograph with a nice panda dial.

I would like to sell that Air-King, but it's a delicate situation.

My wife’s watches. All gifts from me. The IWC was the first one when she decided she was a little bored with her iWatch and wanted something she could flex in business meetings to silence the good old boys club at work.

Her only rule for me buying her watches is “no dainty watches.”

My wife loves the 34mm size as well. Despite being very petite she wears a Rolex Precision and a gold capped Pie Pan regularly.

I’ve shown “her” watches here, many times before. The oldest is an early 20th century Elgin 6-size Hunter model (from her late maternal grandmother) in a 4 colour gold case, a 1929 Mars art deco wrist watch that my late father gave his mother, several quartz ones, a nursing one she bought herself when she graduated as a nurse in 1962, three karat gold Omegas (one NOS) I’ve given her over decades, and assorted others, too numerous to enumerate. But her favourite (not mine), is one I gave her 35 years ago. This is (and has been) her go to watch since when I gave it to her. Oyster Perpetual, steel case and Oyster bracelet.

… a nursing one she bought herself when she graduated as a nurse in 1962…
As I am doing quality management for a big group of nursing homes I know about nurses watches in the past. These days no one wears them, even though they would be useful. Do you mind sharing what watch she was wearing after graduation? An upside down one?

It was a water resistant manual winder wrist watch in a chrome case, round face, with a sweep seconds hand. A $35.00 Rodania on an expansion bracelet. She wore that watch as her nurse’s watch for years after we married. At graduation, she only knew of one nurse at the time that had a “pin on” upside down nurse’s (lapel type) watch. She used her Rolex for the last 7 years of her nursing career. She still has the Rodania.

Nice. Reminds me of a baume mercier I bought a long time ago for my wife before her current Cartier.
