Two questions about the Seiko NH35/36 4R35/36 movement

    1. What exactly is the reason why the quick set date change is operable when the crown is in position 2, but not operable when the crown is in position 1 or 3? I feel like it must have something to do with the part of the stem that is inside of the day date corrector setting transmission wheel A in the various positions.

    2. There is a sliding crown wheel spring on the barrel and train wheel bridge. What is the purpose of this spring? Is it to move the crown wheel out of the reach of the winding pinion when the crown is in position 2 and 3? Does the yoke somehow push the crown wheel back in positions 2 and 3?
