Outside of the main discussion here, and by no means taking sides with either the buyer or seller, it would be interesting to know if this problem of a damaged thread in a screw-on caseback is actually very rare, or is it something that members like Al have come across before with Omega backs? I have not encountered it so far, but my experience is pretty limited.

Thank you for not locking it. Those who don't want to read it always have the option to not read it, but those who do want to read or respond don't have that option if it's locked or removed.
I believe that what Darren was trying to say was not that people are not interested in the matter, but that it does our forum no favours to have it aired in such a way and is visible to the whole internet.

This is getting just plain ugly. I see little merit in ventilating this dispute so publicly now, this is the OF not a tribunal - and further it's at risk of regressing to a soap opera. I suggest none of us are in a position to evaluate and even less adjudicate the merits of these competing assertions now that we can see a wider picture here. The claims and counter claims are becoming so detailed that other forum members are effectively consigned to the touchline and yet are implicitly being recruited to take sides. With respect to M of S and BM I would ask them to consider if their disagreement ought best to be resolved in this way; I sincerely and earnestly hope that they can conclude this matter substantively, materially and promptly and to their mutual satisfaction.

I understand what he meant. I even think they should have stopped arguing when the seller had provided his side of the story and tried to resolved it in private.

I have the same hope as you. Just that, even though this is not a tribunal, this is a forum or a platform for members to express their opinions. I don't think anyone complained until it's become a tit-for-tat sluggfest and that's when the mods stepped in which I don't think anyone opposed that.

The buyer has had the chance to tell his story so it's only fair that the seller also has that chance. Now that they've both expressed their opinions, I hope they'll soon have a satisfactory solution for both.

Dear Matteo,
One, I decided to send the case to Italy to a firm I contacted and got the price for as well as payed the shipping to them.
Two, I have not received the case back as yet.
Three, I will pay my half when I receive the case back.
Four, it is a bit rude to say I won't respond when I have only this morning seen your first and second email one from yesterday or the day before and the other last night. I am travelling and email is an issue at times.

To say I have got what I wanted is a stretch, I achieved the best outcome I was going to get May be a better way of phrasing it.

I don't understand why you felt the need to refresh everyone's memory of this sorry afffair.

To me there are just too many differences in these two images that couldn’t be accounted for in lighting or as bish789 suggested a good service unless that included complete disassembly. Even if you could account for all the screws being in different orientation and the apparent different parts there are clear, to me, tooling marks on one casing and not the other.

That said, if you are happy with what you have I wouldn’t cut off my nose to spite my face if you got what you paid for.

Are the "tooling marks" you refer to the nicks in the ridge just outside the movement?

I guess this is sometimes a consequence of buying from overseas, even from different continents, I've seen watches I like, but always concerned about something like this if it goes pear shaped!
People have different ideas on things, what I think is great condition for year someone will not, makes it even more difficult if both parties speak different languages.
I think maybe this needs to be put to bed as it reminds me of my wife's vintage pram groups, all bickering and bitching like women do... she's tends to keep out of it herself!
Anyway, glad it's come to a fairly reasonable conclusion, (I think?) as I don't reckon both parties will be enterly happy, at least there can be an outcome.
As I mentioned on earlier post.....shit happens....
Hope all have a great day,
Ian

A while ago I kindly asked you to keep this to PM. We do not want to see people air their dirty washing in a public forum.

I am ok with that and happy to do so. As I have previously stated I don't understand why it has surfaced again but was compelled to respond. I would prefer that this thread disappear as it serves no purpose for the betterment of the forum which is not how it was intended or started.
