How much pigment is the question...so a container of the same depth that the epoxy will be in the finished table was used to gauge this.

Nope...not enough...

That looks better...

A river runs through it...

In addition to the table, we are having one wall hanging made, plus a number of floating shelves. That still left a lot of wood to be used, but luckily for us when the people doing the work posted the progress on their Facebook page, they were contacted by a woodworker who is looking for material for a large sliding barn door style door for a customer (78 inches by 102 inches, so a very large and heavy door). If the deal goes through it will help offset some of the costs for us, as they will need 3 of our slabs - the door will be in used Nova Scotia, so about 2,000 kms from here.

It also gave me an idea, because we already have a maple sliding door into our en suite bathroom...

Maybe an upgrade of this door would be nice...

This is such a good choice! There is so much life in this color. I’m so excited to see the final result 🥰

You have no idea of the agony that went into choosing the colour...knowing that you only get one shot...

We went around in circles for weeks trying to decide, but I'm happy with the choice.

I shit you not, after reading through these posts, a tree removal crew showed up and took out a row of evergreens in front of my house.

Not my property, simply nothing I can do. Fully grown trees are even more rare in my urban area. This really stings (and adds more windows peeping right at mine).

Some sort of cosmic joke the universe throws at me with this timing.

Sorry to see that - do you know why they were removed?

Oh I don’t envy you and this choice at all. I can only imagine the amount of second guessing and how consuming this thought would have been. But you definitely made a wonderful choice!

I have an email in to our HOA. This property though is either the neighboring HOA, or the private homeowner that owns the two lots with the one house being built, and the other a rental (with the fenced backyard). Last year the trees were simply trimmed.

The house being built has already been forced to stop work twice for many months due to deviating from their approved plans. Originally only supposed to redo the existing frame and they knocked down the upper floors, then when they built the new structure they went taller than the height they requested. Watching their process and noting things like burying those support beams directly in dirt without a proper footer or separation between wood/ground, I wouldn't be surprised at a rash decision just to remove trees instead of caring for them.

All in all, I still get an amazing view the other direction. The vacant lot is designated as protected riverfront and if it is ever developed, would likely be a park or common area. It is at least part of our HOA, and most in our HOA wants it to be developed into residences.

As for your table, that amber honey with a sort of grain is stellar.

Thanks - the colour in that gif is a little deceiving, since they had red plastic tape all over the table that the mold was made of, so it appears darker there than it will in the finished table, but amber is the sort of thing we were going for.

We went to see the able after it had been unmolded last week, and it's amazing, even unfinished. Hoping that we will have it here early July.

I can’t recall if you had mentioned it previously, but do you have ideas on how you plan to finish the wood?

The place that is making the table recommended a specific oil finish. It's durable and easily touched up, so we are taking their advice.

Okay, I was not going to show more until it was almost done, but since people are so interested, this was taken right after the pour was done:

Beautiful.
And you should absolutely redo your sliding bathroom door. The combination between that beautiful wood and the beautiful marble behind it will be stunning. And a very stylish, and enduring addition to your house.

Congratulations on your repurposing project!

I was very much into woodworking in high school and truly enjoyed it. Reading your thread is creating an itch to take it up again
