Good on Tudor for releasing a METAS certified ceramic watch at an excellent price point. I love competition

If you look at what parts of this watch are ceramic, it's the mid-case and the bezel insert. The bezel, crown, and case back are steel with PVD coating. When that coating wears, you are going to have a nice shiny deep black mid case, and parts that look worn...
Oh I hadn't caught this, I mistakenly thought that all external parts were made of ceramic 馃槻

I think it is a nice watch. I like it and the competition is good and now people cannot link METAS to Omega.

why 41mm?

tudor already has a black, black bay that nobody is knocking down doors to get. they prolly used parts from that watch on this as well.

have to say i don't like the text on the bottom of the dial as well. master chronometer stretches way to far on both sides. and did we really need for it to say black bay? this kills the symmetry imo

By going METAS, Tudor is going after Omega and positioning itself as its direct competitor, since Omega is mostly the main watchmaker that certifies its watches with Metas. Very smart marketing decision from Tudor.

it's no different than Omega writing - Omega Seamaster Professional Zr02 coaxial master chronometer 300m / 1000ft all over the dial. That's crowded imo

I think it is indeed quite a smart move from Tudor & Rolex with this METAS. It seems that Omega is attacking Rolex brand, while Tudor is now attacking Omega directly creating a new front and possibly putting Omega in a tricky spot.
On a purely esthetical point of view, I don't really see why it is not OK to put BB and Master Chrono texts on the dial - i see lot's of these on Omega, Rolex and Tudor - so for me hard to understand why this one is different?
Another point for me is the caseback - i think this really differentiates this piece and i like it a lot.

I tried one on and quite liked it. On the case back point, I don鈥檛 really understand why they did it. It鈥檚 an industrial movement and not pretty to look at particularly but I guess it鈥檚 about showing something different. The sapphire case back did make the watch sit a little tall compared to the steel case back which is something to consider.
