·For sale is an excellent example of a Vintage 1961 Tudor Submariner 7928, pointed crown guard case with gilt chapter ring, exclamation point dial. Serial is 363,XXX.
The pointed crown guard case is in excellent conditon with factory bevels still sharp, that shows some light wear from use, and is likely unpolished. There is a light engraving on the back as shown.
Great condition deep black, period bezel insert, with a few small marks, however is missing the lume pip.
Excellent gilt chapter ring dial with 6 o’clock exclamation point marker, slightly tropical colour. The dial has mottled a little, which is seen with these early gilt dials. Gilt print is clear and intact.
The lume has turned a warm sandy hue with a small amount of discolouration and the original gilt hands have been colour matched to the original lollipop hand. Lume glows brightly when exposed to UV then falls off rapidly, except for hour and minute hands which have been colour matched and glow for a longer period.
The small “Exclamation point” dot below the 6 o’clock marker has lost most luminous material, but is still visible.
Watch is running well, and will come on the leather strap shown. The crystal is a genuine rolex replacement T19.
Happy to send more photos/info as needed.
Asking USD 16,000
Price is as per similar examples, but I'm open to reasonable offers. I'm looking to consolidate some pieces so a sale is preferred, but trades (locally) might be ok.
Price will include DHL delivery in Australia, and maybe overseas depending on restrictions, but insurance is to be discussed. Happy to travel locally, or interstate.
