Im going to correct myself on this - when I wrote this, it did not sit well with me - so went to see what I can find. Based on this it appears that when MT5602 was introduced, its when the straight writing got applied - so Im wrong.
It’s fine we aren’t grading I don’t think you had any attempt to deceive I often find myself sure of things only to find out I’m wrong, actually seems to happen daily.

Yep, when they went to the in house movement the text went straight and they bumped the reference to 79230.

‘The other main change is the ETA based 79220 has the rose on the dial and with the 79230 they moved to the shield.

I've never told anyone not to buy a BB36. Especially the blue one. It is a lovely piece. It has its quirks like the weird crown, but it is the perfect balance of elegant and sporty. I passed on it for one simple reason - my brain can't comprehend paying 4 figures of money for a time-only watch. I use the date complication a lot in my day to day. If the BB36 somehow had a date, I'd have bought it already. Probably would've had both the black and blue. Its a great way to enjoy Datejust classiness with a hint of old Explorer for less than £2k (Chrono24/used/almost new).

I have the black dialed version, my only modern watch and I absolutely love it! Wear it on a vanguard rubber strap and it’s perfection!

Oh nice! Is that the fitted vulcanised rubber for the BB36? I'd love to see a photo if you have one.

Ha, good point. Tbh I don’t like day/date but having the date is a big plus. A lot of the documents I write are considered “legal” so having the correct date is important. Then again with automatics I find myself double checking the date in case I set it wrong. Either way something to keep in mind. The seller still has it in Massachusetts, really not far from me. I still haven’t had a chance to try one on, perhaps this weekend will allow.

So you like the size? You find it legible?

Yeah, it’s the fitted one. Really seamless, fantastic design! A couple pics from a few weeks back. Also able to fit the Tudor deployant clasp to the rubber, which is awesome. (But upside down logo for the way I prefer to wear it)

That looks dope! They should offer this from factory. Vulcanized rubber is the best way to wear a watch in everyday life.

I tried one on today (yay for booking a meeting a few doors down from the boutique 👍).

I really liked it. The silver dial almost scratches the itch for an everyday watch like the aqua terra. The blue definitely looks sporty to me. No black dials in stock, special order only. Based on the photos elsewhere in this thread, the black dial looks much more sporty than everyday as well.

Seems to be a grest alternative to the 36mm explorer since you still cant seem to get one at an AD 😒

They look good on your wrist. I regret selling my 36mm Explorer.

What I love about it is you can wear it as an Explorer was meant to be worn. I picked one up second hand, it wears bigger than 36— on the strap it’s subtle and on the bracelet it’s a solid piece of machinery. Who’s going to wear an Explorer to really bang around anymore? Depends on your income I guess but Rolex has become less wearable and more attention grabbing, when it used to be more of a tool / Tudor type watch.

The Tudor 1926. I like where they were going with this, but the little itty bitty date window doesn’t work for me. I wish you could order custom versions of watches 😬
