I have two 45mm Planet Ocean's that I'm trying to authenticate. One is a 2008 with an ETA 2824-2 movement, and the second is a 2012 sapphire viewback, with an ETA 2836-2 movement. This one says Omega CO-AXIAL 8500 on the rotor? Please see the attached photos. Neither has boxes or papers.

Unfortunately, both fake. The "8500" looks nothing like an actual 8500... it actually sort of looks like a fake Rolex 3135 movement, but I guess that's just how the ETA 2825 looks. Both serials 816880298 and 85339251 on Google pull up other threads discussing fake Planet Oceans.

Should have realized they were fakes as soon as you saw the ETA stamping on the movements. While Omega did use ETA bases in the past, they were never stamped ETA, were modified, and never used for these models. Do your research before buying in the future.

Serial number:85339251 - this is for a titanium cased PO with blue dial
Article ref:23292462103001
Version of movement:8500B

816880298 - this has too many numbers...so not a real Omega serial number.

Don, you assumed that I purchased these fakes. I was evaluating them for a friend who was hoping to buy the pair, and posted here due to my limited knowledge on the Planet Oceans. I was pretty sure they were clones, and wanted to confirm my research prior to green lighting the purchase. I own several luxury watches, and have always purchased from AD's. Thanks for your info

That "ADJUSTE DTO" on the first picture was all I needed to see.
