You could also buy a Generic if available. Not made by Omega, but still designed with the same specs.

Generics are typically not the same, and using one can cause casing issues.

Hi Al,

I've used generic from Perrin's for years and never had any issues with them. If there was a problem I don't think Perrin with have carried them and I'm sure would have sold only the OEM. I've know many of the empoyees for years and one would have warned me not to use them if there was a problem.

Not sure what casing issues your referring to, but used them in a number of Seamaster models

Incorrect - no typo - in fact when I looked up case 1650010 and brought up the BOM on the Omega Extranet, I checked the photo of the case back they have there, and looked at the stamp on the inside of the case back - was stamped 165.010 - 62, so I had already double checked it's the right information before posting it.

The information I've presented is correct per the Omega Extranet. Is it possible that the Extranet is wrong? Sure, but after ordering thousands and thousands of parts for hundreds of different Omega models, I can't recall an instance where I have the wrong case parts come in.
I always place official information from Omega at the top of the trust scale, but I just thought the info from the independent suppliers must have come from Omega. Of course the error could have happened anywhere in between.

BTW, can you check Extranet for the crystal of ref. 168.024? Thanks.

Can you confirm this is the same crystal for the Seamaster 300 ref. 166.0024/166.0324?

SP or not?
I presume there is only one version of the 166.0324 and mine does not say SP or not, just like this:

But you asked about 2 different cases...if you were assuming the 1660024 = 1660324, then that's a false assumption. I think this is why people get confused, as they assume different case numbers are actually the same case, when they are not. Omega doesn't change case numbers without there being some physical difference between the cases (adding in the extra 0 notwithstanding).

The 1660324 is 063PZ5152, as is the 1660024 SP.

The 1660024 without the SP is 063PZ5076.

Thanks for the clarification. Some suppliers list both of these crystal for the SP version, I guess they both would fit but one doesn't serve the purpose the SP supposed to have.

Anyways, I checked the crystal on my Watchco SM300 in comparison to that on my 168.024, and the SM300's is much taller and thicker. It's rather weird to specify a dive watch's crystal for a dress watch. I think I'd go with the one specified for ref. 166.010 then.

Sure...
Just for the interest of the discussion, I've found the 166.010 had the crystal part number 063PZ5031. Is that correct according to Extranet? If yes, what do you think about why the 168.024 has a different crystal?

Yes that's the number.
