Do we really use the chronograph function anyway ? Really ? I think the same case style in TDM are great on the wrist and easier to service. Tri-Compax service is expensive and finding a watchman who can do that kind of work are hard to find !
TDM feel sturdier to me than Tri-Compax on the wrist. Others collectors thoughts ?
TDM are much more scarce in original condition as well !

I've had 8 Tri Compax and 5 Triple Date Moonphase over time, and I love them both. For myself, I find the TDMP a bit dressier, and the Tris a bit more of a daily, especially if they are oversized. TDMP top out at 34.5mm, in terms of the ones I've had, and its right on the edge of what I tend to wear. The 35-37mm Tris are a better size for me. Anyhow why choose, when you can have both !

TDMP are a fascinating complication for the 1940s so that’s my vote. so cool that the moon is drawn with an expression

    Voted with $$$$...... Tri

Symmetrically perfect and the design is still a Classic after 75 years.

If we're only comparing UG, Tri-Compax beats the TDMP any day of the non-perpetual calendar in my book. Personally, I think there are other more attractive TDMPs than the UG though, so a LeCoultre (for example) TDMP vs UG Tri-Compax is a harder choice. But, due to not having income at the moment, I can't get MY hands on any of those hands and with people bidding up even garbage-dialed Tris on Ebay I don't know if I ever will.

I’m starting out with UG, and the TDM is what I’m looking for now. Just waiting for a good one to come up for sale.

"I'm ashamed of myself. I should be arrested. I should be purged, I should be flogged. I shouldn't walk among good people. I'm a swine, a wretch. I don't deserve to live like others." - Eddie Murphy, The Golden Child
    :whipped:

I know, there's no accounting for taste, but the art deco numbers in that particular one don't do it for me. Overall, there is just something about the day window at top dead center that blows the whole symmetry of the dial for me. It's so small that it seems like it was an afterthought: "Oh hey, we could put a day indicator somewhere on here too, let's just put it right in the middle." The quad-subdial layout of the Tri- or Aero-Compax is infinitely more appealing to me. Maybe it's because those are the ones I fell for first and only those will do. To be honest, I've never seen any of them in person, so maybe that would change my mind too.

If I really wanted to cause a riot, I'd reveal that I don't get the appeal of the Polerouters! :D

I have owned and enjoyed both but I find the complexity of the Tri compelling. Thumbs up to all the lovely examples posted above!

I’m new to the forum so I’m sorry if this is the wrong thread for this question!
I’m interested in triple date moon phase and have found this one.

The owner has also sent me the attached photo and says he has owned the watch for 40 years and rarely used it, but that it is in good working condition.
The serial number looks strange to me, does this look like a good buy to you?
Are there any questions I should ask the seller?

you might want to create new thread in the future for specific inquiries.

this watch is so wrong in so many ways, absolute basket case, not even sure it's a UG to begin with
