Toronto Omega Seasmaster maintenance

Hi All,

New user and first time poster. Never thought I’d find myself here.

I inherited an omega seamaster 300m from an older sibling who was taken too early (<35) and I know absolutely nothing about watches. I don’t think I ever plan to wear the watch apart from maybe my wedding day. I am hoping to have the watch checked out by a reputable professional in Toronto and possibly also repolished but I haven’t decided on that yet.

I can post a picture of the watch a bit later if there’s interest, but in the interim, any recommendations? This is important to me so I need an expert maintenance completed.

The watch isn’t working at the moment and is ‘stopped’.

Also, is there any cleaning available for the original box itself or is that something that’s not typical?

Thank you very much for any comments.

Please look up a member here Archer. The box is probably toast, many of the early Omega red boxes self destructed.

Yeah it’s one of the red boxes. I think it looks pretty good I just wanted to get the inside washed and cleaned if that’s even a thing people do.

Adding pics for more context.

That box is in better shape than most. The red peels off even when stored correctly.

That watch looks to be in good condition, worth having Omega service it.

Thank you. Yeah he kept it in good condition over the past decade, it was gifted to him quite young.

Does Omega tend to repolish watches well? Thank you

The camera might not be picking it up but there’s quite a few scratches. He wore it very often.

It looks to me like a titanium watch. Scratches are part of its character.

I recommend not polishing it, I think it will have more meaning to you if it carries the wear and tear your brother put on it. My dad passed in 2023 and I have his 1969 Tudor, a graduation gift from my grandparents. There is no way I’m polishing that.

Doesn't Swatch have a service center in Toronto?

Yes, they do…I think this movement and era can easily be handled by Toronto or Archer can probably do it .

The box is in way better shape than most , was stored in a dry area away from sunlight. I think trying to clean it would make it worse.

I'd skip the polishing and just get it serviced by a good independent watchmaker and re-sealed. This Seamaster Pro is extremely durable, you really don't have to worry about wearing it more often as the movement is very serviceable with plentiful parts and there really isn't anything that can happen to it on your arm that will ruin it, a watchmaker will always be able to bring it back to as-new if needed.

It looks like the titanium electric blue dial which is a very special variant, in my opinion it's the best combination of that entire Seamaster Pro 300M generation.

Sorry for your loss @Jupiter .

Great watch. Thats one of the favourites among the Seamaster collection and its called the "electric blue" . If my old eyes and the picture decive me, the greyish colour tells me that its a titanium watch.

Its a really versatile watch, its great for formal and sports activitys. Its water resistant to 300 meters and still very slim. It wears really good and you probably know the James Bond connection. I hope you will be wearing this beautiful watch as a daily.

Always was a fan of the Electric Blue dial and sword hands. Any reputable watchmaker can service the cal 1120 movement. Have had a SMP for 20+ years (same movement), it's basically bulletproof and with a service every 5 to 7 years, it runs without issues.
