Too much wear?

I've got my eye on this Seamaster 600 but unsure if it's got too much wear and tear. I plan on occasionally wearing it but want to keep it for the foreseeable and pass it to my son in years to come. What do you think? I don't think anything has been polished or redialed.

I’d like some of the more experienced users here to verify that, but to me it looks like the case was so severely polished that the attachment of the lugs actually show the difference in case thickness between polished / unpolished part:

The dial might even have mold, it’d be a bit too much for me (and I do like heavily patinaed watches usually). The movement looks ok in comparison to the dial, but not great with some corrosion.

I know some people are happy to wear watches with dial damage or significant patina but this rather dirty looking watch face suggests it was worn by a coal miner working at the coal face.

That is an absolute dog.

I’d strongly advise waiting for a better example.

That's a good point. I think looking at the bottom right lug as well it looks a little off

Yes, I do like patina but I think this is very border line for me. I like the white dials which have turned in to a creamy brown

I think I'm just getting eager to buy one but I need to wait. I don't have a huge budget, around £500/$615

Are you U.K. based? You can get a lovely and original vintage Omega for £500 with a bit of patience.

I am, yes. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places!

Keep an eye on the sales section on this forum and regularly search eBay. You can post watches you're considering here.

Importantly, look through old posts on the forum to get a good idea of what model(s) you're looking for

Read https://omegaforums.net/threads/learn-how-to-fish.52603/.

Then try going into eBay, entering 'vintage Omega Seamaster' in the search engine, enter ‘£600' or whatever figure you fancy, and see what comes up.

Read the text carefully, beware of re-dials, refurbished dials etc and study the photos (equally carefully).

I had a good read of that a couple of weeks back, it was useful! There's so many refurbished ones on eBay...I've just not found 'the one' yet, but I'll keep looking! Thanks

That is nice, where is that?

In my draw awaiting a service, purchased a while ago for even less than your budget. 😉
