If you’re looking for something to strap on occasionally for a nice occasion and to pass on, you want something that looks as clean as possible in your budget. The watch you posted ain’t it. Early 1960s Seamasters are plentiful and good runners once serviced. A little more than your budget might even net you a C-case Constellation...

I suggest you take some time to see what’s out there and work out what references you like the look of. You’ll find pieces more honestly priced and with fewer undisclosed issues here in Private Sales more often than on eBay, which can be a jungle and difficult to really be sure.

But it’s also fair that in order to ensure that whatever you do buy lasts as long as possible, factor in another £250 or so for a service, otherwise, like @STANDY's, it’s safer sitting in a drawer until you can get it looked at by a good independent watchmaker.
