A little primer on what not to do with a vintage Rolex:

The replacement parts cut the appraisal by almost half.

The $8-10k estimate with service insert, dial, and hands is probably about right. However, his estimated value of $15-20k with original gilt-gloss dial and fat font bezel insert is far too low. It's more like $30k depending on condition. He was pricing it as a 1970s matte dial 1675.

It’s still not a bad valuation for a watch that’s been used hard daily and clearly loved.

I’ve completely missed this vintage era with my age etc etc.it’s almost a relief in a way, as weird as it sounds - no worries about wearing a vintage and the high values they carry.

I’ve got the first super luminova era and with that not ageing etc - I can just wear my watch without worry of replacing parts really...? I can’t see it devaluing a modern dial Rolex?

One of my favorite GMTs, other than the Holy Grail bake lite bezel 6542. I was lucky to purchase my 1675 long before prices went nuts. Mostly original; the bezel insert is vintage, but may not be original to the watch. The case is worn, the hands a little battered, but it keeps great time.
I have the original bracelet, but usually wear on a leather NATO strap.
