Can anyone else confirm the price on the red bezel piece?

I like the panda dial a lot. The Apollo XI 35th LE was next on my list, but I might reconsider that depending on availability of these from Japan dealers.

Just FYI I read some comments on an Instagram post (think it was @vintagespeedmaster on IG) that one guy had called a boutique in Japan and was told they were only accepting reservations in person at the Japanese boutiques. If that is correct you’ll either need to plan a trip, know someone there, or wait for them to hit the secondary market to get one. Not sure how true it is but that’s what was said.

I can wait until they hit the secondary market.

What advantage does limiting the release to a particular country have when the watches are already limited by number?

It certainly make it more difficult for people outside of Japan to purchase...so does this add to the desirability?

I have a feeling they're going to have a hard time moving 2000 of each of these in Japan only. The Gemini and panda might sell out but I'd guess about half the stock of the others will be available in Japanese boutiques (and maybe ADs if this isn't boutique-only) for a little while

Well, they have 2 years until the 2020 Olympics so maybe they're getting a head-start this time?

I was thinking along the same lines as well. It makes no sense to have stock sitting around when making it more readily available would help it sell through. Although as @Meme-Dweller mentioned they have 2 years to promote and sell the range.

I think the essentially carbon-copy aspect of the blue and white ones to the Gemini IV and Apollo XI 35th / Mitsukoshi is pretty terrible IMO. Maybe sapphire crystals will keep them separate but I really can't see why a buyer would want to spend $10k on a Gemini IV or an Apollo XI 35th if he can spend about half that once these hit the market and depreciate.
I agree that collectors will now think twice before pulling the trigger on either the Gemini IV or Apollo XI 35th. The Olympic panda could be especially impactful on values as it’s significantly more rare than the 35th.

Are these supposed to have hesalite or sapphire? On the Omega JP website, Google Translate says double-sided AR sapphire (weird since the sapphire sandwich isn't double AR-coated), but the images look like they have hesalite

Frankly for me the hesalite of previous versions look much nicer. It feels kinda weird looking at "Gemini" with sapphire. But maybe not used to it yet.

I am in a state of complete confusion. My brain cannot process what is happening here.

1. I love the watches, because they are Speedmasters, and I love Speedmasters.
2. I hate they are so derivative
3. I love the return to stepped dial
4. I hate Omega and their crap marketing department - Speedy's are not Olympic watches, this is just so lazy, confusing, and nonsensical. WHAT ARE YOU DOING OMEGA MARKETING DEPT?!?!?!?!
5. I love the box set concept, always have, I think the execution of the set is nice.
6. I hate what they are doing to collector value, and what ever tiny bit of credibility "limited" had with Omega, is now pretty much completely a joke. Limited does not mean limited if we can sell more. I suppose the only "limiting" factor now is when we stop buying.

Japan only... yeah, right.

F me... where can i get a red one?
