Guys I've recently purchased my new Omega SMP 300 😁 ...Over the moon!

...Do you guys insure your watches? If so who by? I live in the UK

Try a quick search. I seem to recall several threads on this exact topic, including suggestions in the UK.

I have one watch insured that I always wear on occasions where it’s more likely for things to go wrong. Travel to poor countries, (drunk) nights out in potentially unsafe areas,… Coverage is for both loss and theft. I would recommend it, it costs me 80eur per year and the piece of mind is worth it.

The purpose of insurance is to protect you from suffering a catastrophic financial loss. Losing an SMP 300 would hurt for anyone, but whereas for some it would be catastrophic financially, for others if wouldn’t. So, insure if you are the former, don’t if you are the latter.

Thank you very much for the advise! ...im totally in the honeymoon period right now after lusting for this watch for over 3 years

As previously mentioned, insurance is there to protect you from a loss that would be financially devastating. Home and vehicle insurance are prime examples where you need insurance, particularly if someone is hurt by your property. And life insurance to protect your family. But a watch? Hard to believe that the loss of an Omega watch would be financially devastating. It may hurt you emotionally but it's not likely to send your financial life off course for long. Anyway, it's a personal choice, some folks like the 'peace of mind' insurance brings, others are happy to live their lives. Don't do crazy things like wearing a flashy watch at 3am after a night of hard partying, wear a cheap Swatch watch for that. But day to day, don't be afraid of wearing a nice watch that's not insured. It also depends on where you live and travel; inner city apartment/condo living is far different than a rural, gated community.

I have mine on the home insurance, specially covered for loss or damage outside of the home.

Not relevant to this specific OP, but I've never understood the people who join the forum to ask about insuring their precious inherited watch whose value is mainly sentimental. Will recovering $1,000 from your insurance company really heal the wounds of losing your grandfather's watch? So what if you can buy a replacement. It's not the same watch.

I have mine added on my home insurance, as a specific item outside the home.

Would suck to lose/break a £6k watch and the additional premium is about £4/month.

I live in the US and insure all 3 of my Omega watches as part of my homeowners insurance (they're listed under the Valuable Items section). The additional premium wasn't too bad and was practically negligible for me.

I have a personal article policy for mine. It's like $15 a month for roughly $25K coverage. I'm in the states, FWIW.

Gives me a lot of peace of mind to enjoy the collection.

I list mine on my homeowner's policy with USAA.

I insure mine through the same company that handles my car and renters/homeowners insurance. I just have individual item policies for my watches, just like my wife's engagement ring.

Ditto. Ask your insurance provider about a "valuable personal property" rider (most insurers have some version of this), and add your new watch that way. For heaven's sake don't leave it uninsured.

5.5k PO.
Added to home insurance, includes theft, damage, theft or loss when not in house.
Extra £18/year on insurance.
