Very useful, thanks. My dear lady wife suggested getting my watches specially insured only this week.

Now I can give her a little job to do ;)

Any experience in having to claim or dealing with insurers on watches? I've just got my SMPC added to the home insurance for £40 for 6mths. They only need to know about items over the value of £2,000...and in the event of a claim would want a receipt. (Although i'll have everything documented with pictures as well.)

I got a standalone quote from a "protect my bubble" type site, and it was over £200 a year for one watch!

Many thanks for the post, spoke to my home insurers over a week ago and gave them a brief run down +values on my meagre collection along with some more expensive artworks.
Lassie tells me oh it will be fine you'll be covered, asked her to confirm in writing, still waiting. :cautious:

That sounds like a fair bit :\ How many watches does the 720 quid cover?

Normal insurance only covers for 30 day international cover, i travel a lot and live in 2 different countries for extended amount so i need good cover.

    It covers enough watches ;)

Unfortunately I don't have receipts (too many cash and eBay deals) so March want an independent valuation and an authorised safe (which I have). They quoted me £1200 a year for mine...

I reckon they can - they were very professional when they dealt with me.

Just wondering what everybody expects to pay for a watch valuation for insurance purposes...

Hi - I think it depends what you've got. My collection is mostly vintage and so is a bit difficult for some people to value.
I was quoted £500 for someone to come to my house and see them and then go away and research.
