Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Ann. Steel or Gold? Experiences and opinions, please!

When the Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Ann. Speedmaster (ref. 310.20.42.50.01.001) was launched last year, I wasn’t that excited. The (then) high price compared to non-limited Speedmaster and the Buzz Aldrin’s butt on the dial made me loose interest of the watch.
But now after some time and after seeing the steel version live, this watch has started to grow on me: I want one! Epic&important Speedmaster with modern movement, ment to be worn on a daily basis.
The stunning gold version (ref. 310.60.42.50.99.001) is also something totally different. This version I haven’t seen live... this gold beast could be also possible after some arrangaments.
I feel myself a little bit stupid to miss this important Speedmaster, but it is what it is. I would appreciate a lot if all you lucky ones who have the steel or gold version, could share your experiences (pros+cons) with the 50th Ann. Speedmasters. With pics, ofcourse.
Next week I am about to source one (steel or gold) for myself. The good part in my situation is that this year is a very special year in my personal life. 50th Ann. Speedmaster is great watch to celebrate with!!!

I have the steel version and love it. The new bracelet is so comfortable to wear and it looks great. The gold just makes the whole watch pop and the contrast makes reading the time very legible. The ceramic bezel is just lovely. I'm waiting on the gold version, fingers crossed it'll come soon.

Pro: movement very accurate, able to just have 5 sec total gain in 3 months (positional 9 up at night), looks very nice on Velcro strap, alcantara strap and the standard bracelet.
Con: still stiff crown when winding.

Especially that first strap looks so good! Great accuracy!

I hope so.

The crown is quite stiff at first but it does loosen up slightly after more use.

Pros - looks great, pops like anything, bracelet is fantastic, despite earlier forum discussions feels like a properly expensive piece.

cons - crown stiff but getting looser, impossible to read the sub seconds counter at any angle with buzz in there.

but small cons. I love this piece more than I thought I might. If I could afford it, I’d have the gold one too and get rid of everything else

Extremely comfortable and high quality bracelet, power reserve 60+ hours, high accuracy, just the right amount of gold bling without being obnoxious. Very nice packaging and presentation. Would have preferred not to have Aldrin on the seconds dial but not a big deal overall. Bottom line: Omega hit the right notes for a very significant anniversary of a historical event.

Not much news lately of any further deliveries so not sure how many more Omega has to deliver out of the 6,969 total run.

Another con: the end links and the underside of the bezel can gather dust easily.

Haven't noticed that, but a quick rinse under warm water should fix that.

In my humble opinion. If you are able to afford the gold one over the steel one. Go for it!

I put my fat deposit at the OB many moons ago, I sure hope they have more deliveries or letters will fly...

Wooooouuuuu!!! Stunning. What comes with the watch, please? Do you wear it often—how does it feel in everyday use?
Congrats!!! And thanks for sharing—not too many non-commercial pics of this golden beauty!!

Just a good old box... it’s made of ceramic and is made to represent a rough facsimile of the landing site surface. The watch is epic and I wear it a lot. It’s heavy but not so much that it’s a problem. It’s just beautiful.
