    Hi folks,

The time has come once again to pick up another vintage timepiece. I have made a couple of decent purchases over the last 3-4 months, so I am looking to spend relatively little this time.

I have done some research on vintage Tissot pieces. It was therefore a toss-up of a nice Seastar, PR516, or antimagnetique. That was until I stumbled across this piece (photos attached), a Tissot Seven. Despite trawling through Google, and several forums, it seems to be a relatively difficult watch to find much information on - although I did determine that they were produced ~early 1970’s. Please feel free to correct me if I am mistaken!

Any other queries/discussions that I have ran past the forum, has proven very helpful thanks to the members here.. so I thought I’d give it another go :)

Firstly, I am wondering if anybody knows any history regarding this model?

And finally (you’ll be glad!), does the watch in the photos seem original in your opinion? I have not seen many examples during my research, that exhibit a white dial with the rail-track pattern. Apologies for the quality of the photos, those are the only ones provided by the seller.

    Any response is hugely appreciated.

    Cheers,

That watch has been badly redialed. I'm not even sure it's an actual Tissot or a complete fake.

The Seastar Seven model was introduced around 1963, as something of a dress watch within the sporty Seastar line. The "seven" referred to seven specific attributes that was promoted in their advertising:

Before you spend any cash on a vintage Tissot, I'd encourage you to read through these resources containing period advertising and catalog images from the 1960s and '70s:

A quick Google search turned up this (along with others).

The Seven appears to be a model distinct form the Seastar 7.

Pics are bad but I would guess that's an original dial. Very funky looking watch and in good condition. Congrats :)

I agree. Those 3-D style prominent markers along with the script screams original Tissot 70's funk

Thanks a lot for all of this information. As per the post by @X350 XJR, I think that this model and the seastar seven are separate models (although I am very fond of them as well, especially with the caseback engraving). Though it seems to be difficult to find any additional information on this particular model.

I will make sure to read through these materials though for future reference, I am always looking for more research resources

Yep apologies for the dodgy photo quality, I have requested more from the seller.

I normally get an inkling either way in terms of originality, but I was stumped here. It looks very typically 70’s Tissot as you say, but seems to be quite an uncommon reference. As it is relatively inexpensive, it’s tempting to take the risk

I agree with Vitezi, first watch from OP is a redial.

Case concept is quite similar to Omega dynamic regarding the band and front loader.
the small hole behind is usefull for adjustment.

Yep I think that I have come to the same conclusion, and have held off buying. There are small differences in the script that put me right off when comparing with others for sale.

Nevertheless it’s quite a cool style that I hadn’t come across before whilst searching for Tissot’s
