If you are afraid to wear your watches .. sell them. There is this service called Insurance, it replaces lost or stolen watches. Thirdly, there are certainly places where you should not wear that expensive watch. That’s what the bargain brands are for. Cheers.

Wear it or sell it.
We are all guilty of having safe princesses especially if you have more than seven watches. Some just get forgotten. It just take a bit of courage to admit to the fact then make some decisions and then sell.

The most recent actual sale price I saw on eBay from a glance was $6500. Not that big of a deal.

Wear it. Life is way too short, fleeting, and sometimes random to bother with toxic relationships, grudges, joyless jobs, cars you won’t drive, motorcycles you won’t ride, whiskey you won’t drink, or watches you won’t wear.

Whatever you do. Don’t wear it. DO NOT WEAR THE WATCH YOU BOUGHT TO WEAR. Just don’t. If you didn’t wear the shit out of it by now, you don’t need the anxiety of scratching that puppy.

Do you see Ford GT on the street? No! Then Don’t wear your tintin.
Do Victoria Secret models lounging on the beach? No! don’t touch TinTin.
Kayne West is running for president. Are you? No? Don’t wear Tin Tin.

I just gave you 3 solid, thought provoking reasons to NOT wear your TinTin. Don’t do it

I LOVE the TinTin!
From when I was a kid till the Omega release I have always been a TinTin fan and Id love to snag one sometime soon.
COVID still had my business closed here in Michigan till we enter Phase 5 but when we reopen there will be a couple new watches I plan on getting within a few weeks.

As others have said, just insure it and enjoy. An $8K replacement value probably costs $7-10 a month. And unless you trash it somehow, it probably won't lose that much value.

People have been asking 20k plus recently...

As one of our former member said one time, hey I can ask $25K for my Seiko monster, that doesn't mean it will sell for that amount... 😀

and there's another that has been relisted four or five times and every time is relisted, the minimum bid increases... so the moral of the story here is, if it doesn't sell for the initial asking price the first time, then increase the price on subsequent listings by a couple of thousand dollars... 🤦

I suggest wearing and enjoying your TinTin. I kick myself that 5 years ago I could have owned a TinTin for a "resonable" price <3K and didn't jump at it - it was a "wrong time". IF I had bought it, rest assurred that I would have worn it just as I have worn my other watches and would have enjoyed every minute. One should have joy in wearing watches, if not, why buy them.

Since i love Speedys and i think that 1 is not enough, I could consider your dilemma,... in this case i would buy another Speedmaster Professional, or FOIS, etc..

Have you considered building some sort of alter to house the TinTin?

Ideally it should be surrounded it with images of Wei Koh and Ben Clymer, and left daily offerings of at least 1 x Casio F91W, and 1 x multi-coloured NATO strap, to stop the internet fantasy value dropping back down to reality. ::stirthepot::

I do always question the logic of owning a watch that’s worth $6k and being afraid to use it
I’ve seen countless discussions of “to swim or not to swim” over a brand new Rolex sub or sea dweller and an almost unanimous response of “don’t risk it it’s not with repair bill.” Why be afraid to use a tool watch? Why buy a diving watch and take it off at the pool? It makes me laugh. I’m always for enjoying the watch that’s being purchased.

Totally agree- If the watch has been pressure tested and is 100% up to snuff. The issue is when someone takes grandpa’s 5513 out of the sock drawer and it’s “running”, then takes it for a dip...because it’s a sub.

For vintage: If I knew the service history/had it regularly serviced (seals) and tested, I wouldn’t hesitate to wear it in water. At the least I’d happily wear it daily.

Right with you brother- 18 years of hard labor ( pic before it got a service bezel and new crystal- originals in storage of course).

For me the whole point of money is to buy things I like (well after meeting needs), not use things I like to buy money.
