Very nice. Cant help you with the value, but I'm sure the Speedy gurus here will chime in. I might be interested too, especially if you're located in Europe 馃榾

I have a sister who lives in Belgium. I will let you know when I decide to sell.

I am 1000% certain of the Ref #
From the Omega Vintage database.
  • With an additional zero or a wildcard (*) if you cannot find your watch, for references with 6 digits (for instance, if you cannot find 145.022 try 145.0022 or 145*22)
Put in 145.0022 and you will see what you are looking for.

The database is funny that way, having to put in an extra 0 at times.
But inside the caseback it will say 145.022
The Dot over 90 bezel makes it more special.
The movement is Caliber 861
The caseback is a transitional one.
Very desirable watch and package and condition.
If Omega doesn't want it, eBay will be you best return.
Just take plenty of Hi Res pictures and don't be cheap with
how many. Let it go "No Reserve" and watch it fly!

Do you think this could be a 145.022-69 Transitional? I have tried putting in all the numbers into the vintage search engine on Omega site, but nothing is listed. Did you call Omega and find out what serial it was according to the movement number?

Dear Forum Members,

I have listed the Omega Speedmaster Professional on ebay. I saw an assessment on this timepiece on Speedmaster101.com, and I chose to list it at the price on the chart. It could be more, it could be less, but I at least I know I did the best research possible and I stand on solid ground knowing this is a fair market price. Thanks for all your help, and advice. I have learned a lot about Omegas and that in itself was the best part. I hope to find another jewel someday.

Best of luck on the sale. I think given the condition and the provenance, you may find a buyer at (or close to) your price.

By the way forum members, I know you suggested not to put a BIN on it, but I did not know that a fixed price was also known as a BIN.

You can cancel the listing (due to listing error) and change it if you want.

I'll check on that. Thanks.
Listed on the bay on a BIN. Kinda against what we said and offering it to me at $10k was a bit much.

GLWS

The reason I asked for 10k was to see if that price was a possibility. My intention was not to offend or insult your expertise. You are right, that was not nice, and I am sorry.

A nice touch asking the Ebay buyer to cough up another 4% for Paypal fees too....

This is not accepted practise within an eBay sale. It is, however, normal practise to share PayPal fees outside of eBay, in a standard classified ad sale such as here on the Omega Forums FS section. Then the seller and buyer pay 2% each. When we are talking about big money like this, cutting the buyer a bit of slack can go a long way towards building trust 馃憤

Thank you, I will change it. I really appreciate all the advice.

Correct - very much against the rules. However, nobody ever reads the rules. We delete quite a few sales listings here because people don't follow the simple rules that take less than a minute to read, and can't be missed because the thread title is in BOLD at the top of the Sales Forum. If they don't do that, what makes you think they'll have enough patience to read through all of eBays policies?

The Movement serial IS the watch serial number.
As I said, I have 0 doubt the caseback reads 145.022-69
After looking at hundreds of these, collectors know what serial
should have what general configuration.
It is a "Transitional". Transitional in this case means it
has some features of the references 145.012 and 145.022
Basically, which parts from the earlier reference are on
this newer reference.
In the example of your watch- the Dot over 90 bezel and the Hippocamus
caseback which were used on the 145.012 and changed with the 145.022
There are also Transitional's earlier than yours out there with the dial configuration of
the earlier 145.012 reference.
Your watch was manufactured probably late 1970 or early 1971.
GLWS. I personally would have put the watch up with a no reserve
auction. That way the market determines the price, and let collectors compete
for the watch, which is what you want. There are already 32 watchers and 5 offers,
in less that 24 hours, which means people know it's there and the auction would
have had good participation. I understand you reluctance to give up that control,
but that's how to get the best result selling a unique condition watch like this.
With the BIN/Offer, you put yourself in the position of determining the
value yourself, and you don't have the knowledge to do that.
