A Scot, from Yorkshire?!!
Nothing against our Scottish (or Yorkshire) brethren but I think you’ll find i’m of near pure Irish lineage reared in the fine hinterlands of Newcastle.
(Which might explain why I like a beer or two)
In that case, the first round's on me ... and we'll see how many times it can come around .... 12 people ... 12 rounds ... 25 pints if I get a third in ... damn. Drinking trousers on.

Makes me wish I lived in the UK. I only make it over once a year. Is this the same as the other time4 get together I saw in a thread? It was also in England, I think. Does anyone in the States have this kind of social event?

Not quite the same.
Chris (@tyrantlizardrex ) organises the regular, professional, Time 4 a Pint watch meet in and around London.
We were organising an informal GTG in Yorkshire (a northern county renowned for liking pork pies and mint sauce as a culinary delicacy, washed down with a few beers) so our illustrious social secretary @chunkythebulldog made an irreverent nod to Chris’ meet with the title of our GTG.

(BTW, The reality is fine dining and a lot of watch talk with a few beers before and after)

There have been GTGs advertised in the US.
I think the problem you have in the States is the sheer size of the place (in theory we could all attend GTGs anywhere in the UK.)
Let folks know which state you are in and you might be lucky.

Yorkshire is God's Own County. And Yorkshiremen are the finest example of humanity you can find anywhere in the world. Just ask one.

And they're humble. The most humble.

I won't be able to make this one I'm afraid but will try for a future GTG.

What about the pudding? But seriously, what about the pudding? What exactly is Yorkshire pudding and is this the dish Bob Cratchett's wife serves on Xmas day?

I have a feeling this is one I'd want to attend. Are Yanks allowed? We will be back over to the land of driving on the wrong side in a few months, I think.

"Pig in a California King Duvet ?" That was a funny thread. So the pudding in A Christmas Carol was something else? It appeared to be a dessert, which in the States, of course, is the only kind of pudding.
