Thoughts on this Zenith A277

Not sure if this is an accepted possibility in terms of “correctness.” Seems like a logical possibility especially from what I have read about zenith practices in the late ‘60s, but that doesn’t make it true. Perhaps others here or on other forums with more knowledge can add to this. If you learn anything more elsewhere, please post it here.
I confirm it is correct, I own also the Zenith extract in wich they says “movement 146 H/HP”

Hi,
I have been on the hunt for a Zenith A277 for some time now and have found one at a reasonable price. It‘s a MK1 with a gay freres 3-68 bracelet (fliplock unfortunately not original).
what do you think about it ? Anything that doesn’t look right and would be a reason to stay away?

thanks in advance for your help.
If I were you I would consider the possibility of catching a A3630 in top conditions, IMHO it is a great watch.
Between a top A3630 and a very Experienced A277 I would choose the first

Thanks for the tip. Just had a look at it but it’s not quite my taste or let’s say, not yet 😉

Got a chance to look at the watch today. It is definitely a "worn" watch but I do still like it. The dirty subdials really would need to be cleaned tough. One thing that I am a bit unsure of is the bezel, which is moving quite freely and with a bit of play.
I made a video and uploaded it to youtube here:
Would appreciate some opinions on that.

Here are some more pictures.

Let's sum it up:
Con
- Worn/bleeched bezel (what did they do to it?)
- Subdials dirty, I doubt they can be cleaned properly.
- Seconds hand too short and rusted (doesn't touch the seconds scale)
- Missing lume pip.
- Case polished
- Lume colour (is it attractive?)

Pro
- Ladder Bracelet

It's your money so you have to decide.

It's very optimistic to think that the sub-dials can be cleaned. If something goes wrong, the value goes virtually to zero. Generally I think that you shouldn't buy a watch unless you like the dial, since most likely you'll have to live with it.

I understand your impulse to nab one of these, but you might consider whether your desire is getting the better of you here: Do you think you will be happy shelling out that sum for a watch in this condition? Does THIS specific example actually appeal to you? Or is it more the IDEA of owning one that does? If the latter, then I would pass for sure.

After your video I would leave it where it is. wait for a better chance, looking for vintage pieces the rush to get one is dangerous

Didn't take it ... thanks to all of you for your input. Now the whole thing starts over again ... eyeing an Auricoste Type 20 or Lemania HS9. Or maybe a Triton Spirotechnique ? 🤨🤦

What about a Zenith Cairelli reediton? 😉
