Hey!
Seems like I’m on an UG barn find streak 😁
This one is sold locally, family watch. The seller knows there is an issue with the pushers (missing rubbers?)
The hands seem different from other examples I saw. Might be a nice mk2 underneath though?

My humble thoughts:
Hour and minute hands are wrong indeed
Will be very hard to find replacement for the (ideed) damaged pushers
Lume from 4 to 8 is far from attractive
What is the asking price?

Here is mine for reference of what it should look like.

Thenbracelet may be correct but I cannot tell for certain from the photos. For that price you have financial room to make it better. The rubber pushers are sometimes available or you could convert to pump style.

Do you know if the crystal has the U logo inscribed?

Does the screw-down crown function properly?

Are the reference # and serial # legible on outside of the caseback?

I should also note that some of the Gen2 Space-Compax came with a red sweep seconds hand like yours (but most I have seen are silver like mine). That looks OK.

Hey!
I might have the opportunity to see it in person next week, might it be worth it in the end?
Thx 😀

For sure! But I am biased (happen to be wearing mine today).

It's a good opportunity, however keep in mind that even though V72s are repairable, finding parts can be very complicated, expensive, and time-consuming.

Welcome to vintage watch collecting! Not to disagree in general, but as owner of twelve V72-driven watches I have found them to be robust and not terrible for parts on account of their popularity and number of variants.

Hi
I’ll see it in person Monday 😀

For the record (and what it’s worth^^), the seller who has owned this watch for 30+ yrs transferred me an email exchange he had with universal geneve a few weeks ago where he asks the if they have spare pushers and if the hands are original to the watch (through their contact page « [email protected] »). He got an answer from the after sale department ([email protected]) stating they have pushers but only available through service and that the hands seem to be original to the black dial version!

That’s weird, I haven’t see any other hand set like it…

What a cool watch. I'd be tempted to send it to UG for service just to see what the process is like. What is the case diameter on these?

Hi
Had it in-hand today so here are some better pics 😀
Case is sharp!
The owner got it in 82 from his uncle, wore it maybe 10yrs before putting it away. Never serviced since then.
Crystal doesn’t have the UG symbol etched. Bracelet is a little later from 69 with UP endlinks.
Lume is a little damaged around 4-6 o’clock but the dial is otherwise nice.
The hands react exactly like the rest of the lume under uv light

Beautiful piece, it´s definitely going to need a good maintenance, and some parts replacement. Did you end up buying it?

That'd be really hard to pass up. 40+ years in the family! Nice case, attractive dial, even with some lume issues. I bet you'll have a smile on your face every time you where it, and you could wear the heck out of it.
