Hi there, I just bought this Space Compax from Yahoo auction Japan, never thought I won as the starting bid was quite low and I was the only bidder (actually my friend who placed the bid for me, there is gonna a 10% charge for currency exchange and logistics involved to ship to me). Looks like a good examples of Mk2 Space Compax with original bracelet and rubber pusher in a barn find condition with rough crystal and lots of human DNA all over the case. I was unsure if it was a scam but seller shipped and my friend received it. Would be great to know everyone opinions of anything that I should pay attention to this model when havving it on my hand? Thanks alot
Yes surely it will need a clean up and service, I will send it to my watchmaker as soon as I get to inspected it a little more.
Thats why i thought it could be a scam. A Valjoux 72 UG space compax for less than USD 6k (including 10% fee) seems like a good deal even these days.
I found the pushers are quite stuck, and the rubber top are hardened maybe due to aging.it is with my watchmaker now, let see it he can examine and fix them somehow.
After movement and crystal cleaned, i think the rubber pushers even though clickable, they are well over their lasting usefulness. After looking very carefully, I have found the serial on the caseback and even the U logo on the crystal as well.
Incredible find at that price. I own both generations of this fine model but paid more without bracelet. The bracelet and endlinks are worth a pretty penny on their own.
