I have my eyes locked onto this Seamaster 166.010. I would be trading my Geneve +/- cash. My grandfather used to have one very similar to this (according to my dad), but unfortunately it met its demise many many years ago after he attempted to clean paint off of it by soaking the watch in paint thinner...all thats left is the story of him buying a silver, non numerical Seamaster in Holland in the 1950's while he worked for Aristotle Onassis on oil tankers. sigh.

Anyways...

Your thoughts? They are asking just under 2k..it does look pristine. No pictures of the movement, but Ill ask for them before I pull the trigger.

The other picture is of my Geneve.

The case looks a bit too polished, but otherwise is OK. Here is an example: https://omegaforums.net/threads/vin...meter-ref-166-010-patina-good-purchase.56207/. Yes, 2K what? is a good question 馃槈

Personally I wouldn't mind if the case was polished, and the crystal was replaced. As long as the dial hasn't been repainted/recoated. The dial is really what I'd like to remain original, followed by the hands, case etc. (and of course the movement!)

What is more reasonable? 1,500? I am going to ask for movement photos after they decide what my Geneve will fetch. Speaking of which, anyone on here have an idea what the Geneve may get for trade-in?

I think the chronometer version is the 168.024 (cal 564) but because the caseback of the 166.010 (cal 565) is interchangable with the 168.024 omega used the 166.010 for the 168.024. You also see both of the modelnumbers in the caseback. I have a couple of these as well.

Those are very nice. Because the one I am looking at purchasing appears to have virtually no patina on the dial, does anyone believe that its been refurbished? Or is the original condition explain the relatively high asking price?

Who's selling? If it's a dealer with a shop that explains the high price.

I think the dial is original but it's best to see pictures in normal daylight.

Yes it is a reputable dealer that a family member has used in the past

IMO wayyyyyy too much money. These can be had on Ebay quite often for far less. One on there right now (no affiliation with seller).

This one isn't chronometer certified and has a 562 movement instead of the 564. Also no bracelet (or even leather aftermarket strap) and appears to be in much worse shape..also I don't know when/who serviced it last. IMO not a fair comparison.

That being said, is the OP Seamaster worth 4X's the price? Good question, and I appreciate your help. I found two other chronometer certified Seamasters that are very similar being asked for more money.

I'm pretty new to this so any help is appreciated!
