Thoughts on this Autavia 2446C GMT

Hi OF,

I’m in talks with regards to acquiring the below Autavia GMT with a 194xxx serial number. I wanted to get some feedback on it before I completely commit to it. Everything seems ok based on my research, with the exception of the case, clearly been polished. I’m waiting for natural light photos, as the light box tends to wash out details.

Price wise, quite good as im getting good value in a trade towards the purchase.
Also posted on Calibre11, but there is more volume on OF.

I would agree with your comments that everything seems ok and that the case has been polished...hopefully the natural light pics will show the bevels a little clearer. Might also be worth getting a shot of the caseback and movement if possible, I notice there are plenty of shots of the front but none of the back.

The lume, in particular looks intact, original, with that perfect creamy color.
One of my favorite things about this particular watch is the lumed tip on that red GMT hand. I am a sucker for the 1675, but in terms of the GMT hand, I think the one on the 2446 is absolutely the best.
I'm not sure if it is the lighting, but yes, the case does look quite polished.
Fluted pushers are correct with these hands (I think this is the "transitional 2446C GMT😀

At first glance everything looks correct, except a bit polished around the lugs.

Caseback and movement pics mandatory, I concur with that

The configuration of the OPs watch is called the MK3. It has the 2. ex. case (plain caseback, fluted pushers), the later dial with bigger subs and no "T", the steel hands and red sweep second hand and the later bezel with 11 teeth per Segment (earlier have 17). IMHO the watch is correct for a 194xxx Serial and quite nice. I agree withe the polished case and the lume.

Just want to thank everyone for the feedback and the additional information, that is not so easy to find. Even referring to OTD, it's not 100% clear with these.

In the end I passed on the watch, the case was just too polished for my liking, the serial and ref. were barely visible, lugs lost most of their details and the half circles on the case back were no longer visible.

The search continues, I may settle for one that is all correct, but has later hands, which could be replaced.

I should have known it was a cinquecento!! I have the modern day Abarth, it's a little go kart. It may not be fast, but they are timeless and fun to drive. Those old ones are quite popular now in Italy, many of them are being restored. Unless you are in a small paese and it's still the original owner driving it.

My father has the Fantozzi Autobianchini and an old Lancia Appia. One day I vow to find a nice condition Fulvia '69 or '70 🥰

If I had a Cairelli, we would have a deal, unfortunately, nope. 😉
