Hi All,

I've read a fair few posts before mustering the courage to post up. I'm looking for a vintage seamster and would like an opinion on this one. The 'problem' now is, after ready all your invaluable advice & information on what to look for & avoid, I now look at everything with guarded suspicion!!!

Does the OMEGA look poorly spaced and are the 'T' s too far away from the 'Swiss Made'. Also, what does the SP stand for? The engraving doesn't bother me, I quite like it. It's up at £495.

I really should heed the advice of many on here and be patient as I really want a 1966 vintage.

Thanks for all the information on here.

Well, what do you know!
I have owned that specific watch. The pictures was even taken by me 😉

The dial is good and there is nothing to worry about. The price doesn't seem bad either 😀

I am not the current owner.
The person I sold it to asked permission to use the photos for his listing. Seemed like a nice guy 😀

I messaged him to ask about the history of the engraving. He said it was acquired through his late grandfather, but wasn't his retirement gift.

Sorry I didn't mean to 'dis' your watch btw...

Well, I guess he is just trying to give the watch a bit more history than “no idea about the engraving, I just bought it a couple of months ago” 😉

Dis my watch? How? 😀

I always use coasters with Renoir motifs as background for my sales ad pictures. Here are the most recent for a WTT listing I posted today.
Same coaster 😉

@Socks - I'd like to know who that seller is. Anyone that would make up a lie about his deceased grandfather to sell a watch is a pretty poor human being.

.....unless @Hnansen is posting from beyond the grave and is actually that seller's grandfather, of course.

Actually, that's not a problem - it's the correct way to scrutinize a vintage watch in this market.

You may be able to negotiate on price based on evidence...

Yeah, really - tell the seller that you want extra money off due to the bullshit grandfather story and give him a link to this thread. 😉

I can neither confirm or disconfirm that..

Looks like a very nice clean and honest example, I really like it and now you have some provenance which is a lot more than you will get with most watch sales. Go for it 👍

Thanks guys,

I might be doing the seller a disservice. Reading his reply it could mean his late grandfather bought it off Hnansen, and he is just disposing of his estate. But how then has he got the original listing photos? Any why re-list it with the old photos?

Hnansen, did you sell it on OF or elsewhere? The watch is beyond question, It's just the circumstances that surround it's resale is a bit difficult to square.

You are overthinking it. I certainly did not sell it to his late grandfather 😉
The seller asked permission to use the photos for a new listing, which I didn't have any problem with. He probably thought it was easier than taking some himself.

I sold it here on OF. He bought two watches from me, and already stated beforehand that he would keep the one he liked the most, and sell the other one again 😀
