Judging only by the photos posted, I wouldn’t pay +/-$7000 USD for that watch. It just doesn’t have a strong aesthetic appeal. If this is your approximate budget, I would set my sights on a 144.022-69. Look at this watch compared to the one your posted:

This watch has strong visual appeal and a case in such nice condition that you would look at it and smile everyday. Just take your time and make sure to look at many many many (many!) watches before you decide.
thanks for the input, I really appreciate it. The vintage speedmaster market is a wild jungle to venture into. Especially as a rookie!
Indeed it seems there is such a better market for speedy's in America compared to EU. at least looking at C24.

Just got a few more and better pictures - indeed the bezel looks a bit rough

Someone has touched up the chips and dings on that bezel with black filler. I would stay away.

As others have said, that watch has been "prepped." Not necessarily a bad thing but for the price they are asking, I would personally move on.

The -69 previously posted is an amazing example well within your budget, even after shipping to Europe. Or as an alternative, perhaps save a bit more and get a nice 145.012-67, 68 etc.

As many will advise, buy the best example of a watch in your budget.

the import taxes would drastically increase the price of the watch coming from outside EU. Unfortunately.. but I appreciate the feedback on this! looks like the search will continue

I like the example you are asking about but with the tariff this watch would receive, I would pass on it. The tariff would be based on Switzerland since it where the parts originate. You could invest another $2K to refresh the movement with a standard kit, replace and relume the hands, and have dial work addressed with an independent repair shop. IMO, you could end up having $10K to $11.7K invested for a great daily wear watch.

To provide a price point, I picked-up a transition that was manufactured a month after a 145.012-68 I own. This 145.022-68 was in the US for $4800, original unpolished case, Omega crystal, dial and hands in good shape with some of the indicators needing touch-up. The movement works, has no corrosion but needs an overhaul. I figured in parts alone it was worth what I paid. I expect to have less than $7K invested which is the right price point to for me. My advice is to give yourself a few months to learn what to look for before pulling the trigger on anything. Enjoy the hunt, that's often 90% of the fun.
