With new I meant brand new at OMEGA appeared. So I just do not know this bracelet. Have a new 1171, still bagged lie here. This has the embossed logo and it is written Omega on the back.

Not like any 1171 Clasp I have ever seen. I’ll go with after market fake. Why not start a new thread though?

As written in the other thread, seems to be a new variant of 1171 since 2018.

Happen to have a brand new (made in April 2016) 1171/633 on hand...actually I think the 3rd one I've ordered in the last month! You can see the square logo on the clasp:

And the laser marking on the underside:

The removable links are held in place with split pins...

Cheers, Al

Would you happen to know if there is a bracelet similar in style that has solid ends links and screws rather than pins to hold the links?

Screws rather than pins yes, the early/mid version of the 1970s 1171, SELs, no not to my knowledge, at least not the 633 end links, maybe there are some other Els which fit the 1171.

Thanks for the reply. I can buy a new 20mm 020ST1171633 from a UK seller for £500 it has the vintage look and the correct 20\16mm taper that I want, but it does have pins and 633 links. The other alternative is to buy the 50th anniversary bracelet and have it modded to fit my Speedmaster.

If you are getting a new 1171/633, go to a Boutique or AD and pay more like £380-400. I get tired of telling people to go straight to Omega for bracelets and straps but it seems the message never gets through!

I bought both the 1171/633 and its 19mm brother the 1125/617 for £350 each direct from Omega about 6 months ago, prices have risen but not by that much.

btw I too have a 33X3 movement Auto Speedy, great watch!

Thanks for that info. I have a contact at my local OB but I just thought they would probably be charging more.
As for the watch I do like it, but I don't get on with the supplied bracelet and will look to move it on if a new bracelet can't be found.

I don't personally mind the original 3570 style bracelet but I actually wear mine on either an original Omega leather with deployant or the repro JB Champion:

Cool looking watches these, the photo's nearly always fail to show how nice the blue hands are.

First off, let me apologise if I'm ranting. I don't mean to offend anyone; however I thought it could be interesting for other members to see 'a day in the life' of another 'watch guy...'

My late 1976/early '77 Speedy has the 1171/1 bracelet. The clasp got scratched several years ago when it was an everyday watch and I was kinda hard on it. I was doing a lot of outdoor stuff and car restoration and frequently didn't take it off. It went for a complete overhaul including a new mainspring- and without asking, they tried to polish out the clasp scratches but only succeeded in removing the steel grain. I spent an hour trying to correct this as good as I could...

I checked out a NOS 1171 (no slash) clasp and it seems there is a definite difference that is really not visible until one puts the calipers on the clasp end and sees the /1 end's opening is 17mm and the 'no slash' opening is 16mm. Thanks Omega! Maybe you'll piss me off as much as Breitling.

I'm becoming so over 'big money' watches that my Moonwatch and Breitling Chronomat will be sold in Oct./Nov. as soon as I can get them ready. The Chronomat is at the Auth Breitling guy for the third time (second comeback) as the 'chrono hour' hand was stuck when it came back the second time. When I got it home, I pulled the winding stem as it was dragging when threading the new crown down. The stem was covered in grease instead of being re-installed with the various correct Mobius greases and oils. Also, Breitling said they would warranty the primary hands as the lume was flaking and could potentially get into and damage the mechanism. "Sorry, the hands are NLA and we can't think of a reasonable substitute- no, we don't re-lume either..." they replied.

I am now doing Seiko 6309-7040's, 7a28's (the digital/analouge chronos) and some others. I'm back to wearing my personally modded Seiko Prospex Diver every day now.

Best Regards-Mogwan

Ranting about Swiss brands and turning to Seiko...well we all make our choices for our own reasons, but let's say that Seiko's aren't exactly perfect either...

But at least it wasn't too expensive! 😉

Cheers, Al

The new 1171/1 can indeed be purchased at the ADs for around $400. Many scammers try to sell those as vintage bracelets for $1000.

The 1171/1 is actually quite nice and comfortable on the wrist. But only as long as it does not fall apart on you! Some of the pin-holders are curled metal which can bend and the bracelet falls apart!

Don't know if the original 1171 has a similar problem. Unfortunately never owned an original one.

The current bracelet is the 1171. Read the earlier posts, the bracelet started with screwed links and a trapezoid logo in the 1970s then went over to the 1171/1 version with pins and a different logo after a decade or so, the current version is called 1171 once more but still has pins and laser etched markings. Look at the photo at the top of the page, that is a brand new 1171 bracelet still in vacuum packed plastic.

I know all that, just posted my experience here. Nothing you say really contradicts what I said.

Just saying ...

I see, fair enough. I thought you were saying the current bracelet is the 1171/1, I see that isn't what you meant.

No, just saying that I have the new one and it once fell apart on me. Was lucky I didn't drop the watch.

Maybe my terminology was a bit confusing.

Here's the picture (2020 model) btw.

The original 1171 from the 70's has the trapezoidal box around the Omega symbol on the clasp. The newer 1171/1 has the square box. The 1171 has screws in the removable links and the 1171/1 has the friction pins. The 1171 has either number 11 or 12 on the clasp, while the 1171/1 has number 32. The newest 1171/1 bracelets are now marked as 1171 again just to make things more confusing, but they will still have the number 32 and the square box on the clasp.

Hi Sky21, i know this is a long shot on a 5 year old post but i found this information to be really helpful. With all you mentioned it seems this clasp i was interested in my not be genuine. It seems it should have the number 32 not 11, What are your thoughts? Thanks!

So what I’m getting out of this discussion is that the 1171/1 is best avoided due to poor quality?
