Does anyone know if the logo on the 1171/1 clasp is laser etched? I have been warned against these but I have no idea why??

Of course I would like a vintage 1171 bracelet (for a 145.022-69) but rarely ever see them for sale and when I do they are way too much for my purse. I want to avoid the 1171s with the pins - which I think are the square engraved clasps and marked 1171/633 with a circled 32 under the clasp? I would prefer the links with screws which I think the 1171/1 is.

    Appreciate your thoughts.

The original 1171 from the 70's has the trapezoidal box around the Omega symbol on the clasp. The newer 1171/1 has the square box. The 1171 has screws in the removable links and the 1171/1 has the friction pins. The 1171 has either number 11 or 12 on the clasp, while the 1171/1 has number 32. The newest 1171/1 bracelets are now marked as 1171 again just to make things more confusing, but they will still have the number 32 and the square box on the clasp.

Man, that's a hell of a lot to know about one bracelet. So the new ones have the friction pins, which I believe are thin and can be confused with paperclip pins - true? I have seen these 1171s with the square box so these are new. Any idea as to why they removed the 1171/1 marking - but then that is probably known only to the gods who sit on mount Omega.

No clue why they changed it from 1171/1 to 1171/633 then back to just 1171, just to be mysterious I guess. I have both the vintage and the newer one and they are very similar. The screws are easier to use, but the pins aren't really that tough either.

Yeah, I've ordered one from Mount Omega any way. It's interesting in that the 145.022-69 seems to have a cross over of three bracelet types, from what I can ascertain: 1. 1039/516, 1116/575 and the 1171/633 so I am also wondering whether one of the others might be also equally correct, but I suppose that might have something to do with the movement number 31.317.xxx so quite late in the series

Any of those three could be original on that watch with that later serial number. Maybe the 1175, but I think that maybe came a bit later.

Happen to have a brand new (made in April 2016) 1171/633 on hand...actually I think the 3rd one I've ordered in the last month! You can see the square logo on the clasp:

And the laser marking on the underside:

The removable links are held in place with split pins...

    Cheers, Al

How 'bout I really "muck" things up. I believe this to be an older service 1171 bracelet with screw pins.
This came with my Straight Writting 145.022-69. The original 633 end-clips were included :)

These are the very first type 1171 bracelet from the 1960's, I don't think it's a 'service' one. Most likely came with your -69.

I have no idea about Omega pricing, but it's $461 from Otto Frei.

A few years back there was a guy selling them on the bay with endlinks, both in unopened omega packaging, for £80.
    I only bought one. :(

I had a brand new 1171\1 with the split pins a few weeks ago and was not impressed at all with it. I'm all for rattly bracelets but it felt so poor quality I removed it from my watch after 1 day and promptly sold it.

...I remember you saying that earlier Slevin but is there really that much of a difference to the original 1171? Is it the weight, 'rattley'ness as you put it, and/or overall quality you think is the issue with the 1171/1 vs the 1171...it seems quite controversial!
    Thanks
