Thoughts on the 1171/1 Bracelet

It's not the rattlyness that bothers me at all. In fact I quite like that.

It was just the overall feeling of sturdiness and quality of the /1 that was just very underwhelming.

In the past I had a 1171 on a Speedmaster I have since sold and it just felt better. Also have the screws holding things together is far more reassuring in my mind.

I'd suggest picking a /1 up and seeing what you think as they are quite easy to sell on if you think it's not for you.

All of the above is just my opinion.

Cheers

...and your opinion is what I sought ;-) Thanks for sharing. As with blubarb I'd much rather have an original but find myself in a similar situation of not finding one easily. I guess we can rest assured at least a 'suitable' replacement is available in the interim. Maybe I will punt for one to tide me over. Thanks

I have both. There are some differences, so and more easily seen in a pic

The Newly minted 1171 is on the left side, the vintage on the right side.

On a related subject. Can anyone direct me to information related to Omega bracelet 1125 with circled 11. What watch this bracelet typically came with?.

Note how the clasp on the newer one is quite a bit longer than the original.
That's a bonus when you have a large hand and skinny wrist like I do.

I have had 4 Springers over the years. There is nothing like an Omega watch and a Springer Spaniel.

Staying on the 1171 theme, is it worth bringing up any endlink differences too? Take the 633s for example-vintage vs. new. I understand there are slight differences but presumably they are both interchangeable with the original 1171 and 1171/1...........?

1125 is not on https://issuu.com/mstanga/docs/tab_bracciali_omega_ultima.xls, so I'm guessing that it's not vintage. I know a lot of folks use them on the FOIS for a vintage look.
It is vintage only, and looks essentially the same as the vintage 1171 and 1162 including the screw pins and 16mm clasp. It's not documented to be equipped on Speedmasters, but seen more on Seamasters - chronographs and non-chronographs.

How 'bout I really "muck" things up. I believe this to be an older service 1171 bracelet with screw pins.
This came with my Straight Writting 145.022-69. The original 633 end-clips were included 😀
The raised logo clasp cover was the first iteration of the 1171, like mentioned by Ash. Not only that it was the only type of clasp cover for this bracelet until 1978 when the sunken trapezoid logo was introduced, according to AJTT and therefore for most of the -69, -71 and -74, the correct 1171 bracelet should have this type of clasp cover instead of any of the sunken ones. The sunken square was introduced in 1981.

awesome info, thank you! is it mainly documented by owners? AJTT? other? I'd love some reference points.

Just my observation. It's not covered in either AJTT or MWO, not sure if anywhere else though.

PS: I think it's most prevalent on those sparkled Seamasters, one of which you have.

then I must have one! I've got a 1098/540 for it, but it's not in great shape. maybe a 1447 would do.

The 1447 is much nicer, but not sure if it'd fit with any 19mm end links for your sparkling, and you've already got the correct/original already.

Hi All

I have just bought a new, reproduced, 1171/663 bracelet on eBay (560USD), please see pictures below.
My question in here is: Is it original Omega or a replica??

The square and logo is laser etched on the buckle, and it has the number "70" in the circle on the buckle. Further, it does NOT say "Omega" under the triangle.

What are your thoughts?

Many thanks in advance.
Soren

That's how I never saw it in 1171. Either that is brand new, or it is a fake.

It is brand new, but the question is if it is from Omega or a replica? Does anyone have one like it?
