··Omega Qualified WatchmakerSo you think that it is just a colour choice and bears no connection to the heightened value of supposed 'tropical' or otherwise brown dialled vintage pieces? Also interesting! To be honest, if it were simply a alternative colour choice, and I for one don't believe that was the primary motivation, then I honestly don't think they would have picked brown since it isn't exactly a la mode and invites adjectives of a most scatalogical nature. Well it does to my childish mind anyhow.
I didn't say what I believed regarding some "connection" to tropical dials. I have no idea what the motivation was for Omega to produce this was, other than their regular motivation that is - to sell more watches. I've never seen anything official documented from Omega to say one way or another - if there is something then if someone could post a link I would like to see it.
I'm not in the head of Omega's designers and marketing guys, and I think people stating one way or another based on their own feelings/theories is dubious...but if a statement from Omega is out there saying this was inspired by vintage faded dials, so be it.
But really that's immaterial to the way I see the watch personally, but it's clear others have made that connection, right or wrong.
To me it's just a brown dialed Speeedmaster. I place no added value on faded brown dials personally, so that could be why this doesn't provoke any negative "faux" connection reaction with me...
