It was a bit of a crazy week so I thought id try retail therapy. I used to have time to stop by little junk shops I don’t go in expecting crazy deals but sometimes you find a cool Seiko, omega or one of the many that can catch one’s eye. This place had several boxes as pictured below. I did find a couple cool accutrons but I still have one in storage I need to find a place to properly repair. It’s a nice condition Bulova astronaut

So it was nice going through a pile of watches I really can’t explain how I lost the time to do an activity I once did often and enjoyed. I could tell the shop owner was eager to make a sale and tbh I was eager to give her money but I just didn’t find one that tickled my fancy. This one Waltham would have been of interest but as you can see it’s just really beat up. I don’t mind if it needs a service of course and even if it is not running it’s worth a gamble but if it’s so badly scratched you can’t make out the back is it worth the bother?

Well it was fun too look it reminded me of the days not long ago this would be an every couple week thing for me.

I never see any nice watches in those type of stores. The "nicest" I've seen was a clearly fake Omega. Quite thin, round gold case, quartz three-hander with a plain dark-colored dial. Or was it an LCD digital? I remember distinctly the case back was affixed with five or six screws and the front just said OMEGA with their logo. I don't know, maybe it wasn't a fake, the seller was VERY certain it wasn't and was asking a full price for it, but it sure looked and felt like it.

There are a multitude of things I don't, or just simply can't, do any longer.

I believe that's a US Navy version of the A-11. It would be worth rescuing, IMO.

It certainly stood out to me but what could I do about the case on that? I think they were asking 400 plus. Im not considering like “making money” on it just getting it back to presenting all right.

People just live with wear on the case for these issued watches. However, that price is far too high. These are common watches.

Ya the store owner said she saw it on eBay for 1,000 I knew it was a lost cause at that point

I came back to this thread to say I'd consider you had a win there just to be presented with that many watches to trawl through.
The price they were after definitely detracts from that. Did they at least have that one kept separate from 'the pile'?

Only ever found 1 G-shock at a thrift shop. Hoping it's legit.
