Wow.

At first, I thought they were shallow.

Then I realized I am shallow.

Damn.

You are most likely right- I know very little, other than how not to drool on them.
It’s not like they’re on our shopping list.

Meh. Quit in the middle. If the nonwatch person is saying how bad she thinks the band looks, could we at least see a picture that includes the band?

What’s interesting is that non- watch people can give some of the most unbiased and honest opinions as they know nothing about them- other than how they look. I have found the same with non-audiophiles. When I first introduced my lady to hi-fi, she knew nothing of audio other than her car stereo or a table radio. But she could listen and used a different vocabulary to describe what she heard (words like thumpy, sparkly, closed in, narrow, wide). I found her ear refreshing as most of my friends are audiophiles and we make certain concessions for different things like room treatment, mono vs stereo, vintage recordings or gear versus modern- all she heard was what her ears told her she was hearing- which was spot on.

Thanks for sharing @Archer!
I wouldn't consider myself a hardcore watch nerd but I'd like to think that I knew a bit more about watches than the average Joe. Even then, my guess of the prices of some of these watches was way out (esp the $450k Lange).
What was also interesting is that pretty much the only luxury watch brand that any of these millennials knew of is Rolex, which speaks volumes of how successful their marketing and brand recognition is. It might also explain why demand for SS Rolexes is so red hot right now, as middle aged enthusiasts and collectors have to compete with Millennials on Insta. If these young people want to show their peers they've "made it", then only a Rolex will do.

I would look even more foolish than I normally do if I was guess the price of some sneakers.

I'll give you $50 for each pair, with a discount if I buy all of them.
You’ll look so good in D.

If someone will sell me a Rainbow Daytona for $2K, I'll rock that and D (at $50) anyday.

I recall that a pair of Michael Jordan's sneakers, worn once, were sold by Sothebys in May 2020 for $560,000. That's a lot of nice watches.

Sneaker prices can vary wildly based on the size of example, and whether “DS” (dead stock) or degree of ware, but:

(A)

Nike Dunk “Paris” (2002): retail $100; DS ~$80,000

(B)

Adidas Yeezy Cloud (2021): retail $200; DS ~$600

(C)

New Balance 2002R (2020): retail $150; DS ~$650

(D)

Nike Dunk X CPFM (2020): retail $500; DS ~$3,200

(E)

New Balance 997H (2020): retail $90; DS ~$75.00

(F)

Jordan 1 (1985): original retail $65; DS ~$20,000

Maybe you’re now having the same experience as were the watch video participants?

Even if so, bare in mind several of those video participants probably could have told you far more about some of the sneakers above - while other of them could have probably told you a thing or two about $80,000 handbags...

Thanks, @Archer for spreading around a really cool vid
