Saw this posted on another forum. The best part is right around the 5 minute mark, where someone guesses the price of a vintage Daytona...

The watch world is it's own little world - I think sometimes people forget that.

    Cheers, Al

I would look even more foolish than I normally do if I was to guess the price of some sneakers.

When my home got burgled late last year they skipped the Rolexes and Omegas to steal the Apple AirPods and car keys. 16 year old thief. Tells you a lot right there.

Actually, that one costs half as much as your student loan balance.

I like how closed caption turned the name Baltazar into Bulldozer. That will be the guy's nickname from now on.

Too be fair... that Daytona looks like the cheapest Daytona made unless you really know Daytona’s, then you know why it’s one of the most expensive.

Better do another sweep of the house, Rolex thieves break in with the expectation that it will take about a year to find the model they want

They also have to take an old bricked cell-phone, some costume jewelry and a rubber dog poo before they can qualify to steal a Rolex.

They probably couldn’t find any of the less desirable models to steal first.

And to think, I sold a genuine Rolex Daytona Paul Newman for $4.800.00, about 30 years ago! But that’s okay. The university professor I bought it from bargained me up from $2,200.00 to $2,500.00 because that was what he needed to have, to buy the guitar he wanted. That was early in my involvement in watch collecting. Neither of us knew what we had! Dam!

Kinda makes you question your own sanity a bit.

i did find the part where joe average hasn’t heard of any of the mainstream Swiss brands a bit sad. You think they could spring for a bit of mass media marketing.

The whole time I watched that I was just sadly thinking to myself "are we (watch collectors) a dying breed?" As soon as that one chap said he was head over heels for the lange though, I knew the hook and allure was still there. Really makes you put the whole collecting sphere into perspective and understand how privileged we all are to even be able to purchase these little joys and truly understand and value them in our lifetimes. [sorry for the little soapbox monologue]

This may make me look like a d-bag, but I’m with the millennials here. The Daytona looks like to me like it puts wrist presence over it’s legacy as a tool watch with unnecessary styling. Contrast that with the beautiful early Daytonas. I just don’t get it. Not that I disagree with anyone who loves them.

Agree on any of the current Daytona’s, give me a zenith any day. The early ones (still zenith) are special IMO- they weren’t trying as hard.
