This dial is not transition. After the last with applied logo, there is the one found on 145.022-69 with step dial and medium S, then the same but with flat dial, found on 145.022-74 and part of the 145.022-76. Then only comes the one with tall S...
Just finished reading post. IMHO the shape of the S is Not a 69 dial at all.
I have 2 69 here, one is NOS never worn with wax seal.
One is 29m one is 30m.
Minute Hands on both extend to minute track
and hour is longer and both have longer lume cutouts

47985 47986 47987 47988 I have an original 145-012-68 SP. My serial # 26553050 is only 464 earlier than the one being talked about. I purchased it a few years back and if the seller gets even close to what they are asking, then I made out like a Bandit!馃槈

I suspect on this watch you made out like a bandit whatever he gets for the op watch. This is lovely.

I've checked again the font. Even though the 惟 logo, "OM" and "GA" in OMEGA are similar to the OMEGA as shown in books for the 145.0022 from the 80's, this "S" variation is not in the book. Also, the distance between the "S" and "peedmaster" is smaller then in the 145.0022 from the 80's.
As well the PROFESSIONAL font is different. And as a particularity, mine has two different "O", the first being narrow.
I've also compare to a 145.022-69 and a 145.022-71.
The 861 dials are both stepped and there is no difference between them.
The text on the 145.012-68 dial looks thicker.

The 145.012-68 in the left. Then -69 and -71.

I found though a 145.022-74 with what seems an identical specs/font but flat dial.

Which seems the dial is actually from the 70's, probably made for a short period as i did not find many others.
Thank you speedy4ever for pointing similar ref. dials to me, and of course the rest for their contribution.
These being said, the listing was updated.

Yes, the reference 145012-68 is quite rare
For me the range of the serial movements are approximately 26553xxx and a small number of 27320xxx
You can find dials with applied or printed Omega logo
I prefer the bezel with a dot in the diagonal on 70

EDIT Sorry, my mistake ....... for " normal dial " applied logo
I was thinking about other types of dials 馃槑
