I think this one looks good!(Though a bit out of your budget) I'd jump on it but... end-of-months ::facepalm1::

That's a good looking watch and it is more than I'd like to spend but not out of my budget range. The same seller also has this:

and it's a bumper, so it ticks a couple of boxes.

Much nicer IMO but with a non marked crown and a little rough you could do better and cheaper. 133.8 is a Chronometer grade movement so you’re on the right track.

Thanks, I think the 133.8 is what I'll look for, a bumper and a chronometer grade to boot. You really think I could find one for under $500?

Probably. Maybe a little more. Another bumper is cal 71. Much rarer than 133 but again patience is everything. I don’t have my book close by but I want to say the 71 had a production run of around 15k pieces. There’s a few calibers that are Chronometer grade but not certified and marked as such. So you’ll find 133.8 stamped and not stamped.

I actually found more decent looking 71 caliber watches on ebay than 133.8s.

That one is a looker. I put it on my watch list but I'm still leaning towards a bumper.

If you're looking for a 133.8/71 series at a decent price I'd suggest looking towards gold-plated/capped instead of stainless or solid gold. I myself have one incoming, at a tidbit over 200 dollarydoos. Great if you can forgive the patina/dial damage that seems to be prevalent on these.

Looks like you got a good deal.

One Zenith lives here. I don't know enough about it. Suppose to date to 1956 and it has an 18-jewel movement.

Vintage El Primero all day long. Pick an A38X. Depends on your budget though.

I ran across this one, it's been serviced recently but the dial does have a blemish. Thoughts?

Looks like a radium burn caused by the hour hand. There's another very faint one between 10 and 11. On the other hand, the crown has been replaced with a not-period-appropriate one on the second to last photo.

Any love for the late 40s early 50s Sporto line ? I see them for under $700. Original dials and hands etc. like this one.

I'm actually watching a couple of Sportos but I'm really leaning towards a bumper.
