I sold off my Electric Blue to a close friend. I missed it terribly, so ended up picking this up the other day... an ultra clean full kit of the 2254.50:
There's just something about this example that pushes all the right buttons. It's not garish, it's symmetrical, I love the black date window, slender, dressy and sporty.
It's a keeper.
I'm sure no one will have a definitive answer, but does anyone know if Peter Blake typically wore the quartz or automatic version of this watch? I have a suspicion he would have opted for the quartz version at sea due to the accuracy and the fact that a quartz watch can take more of a beating than a mechanical one.
That looks like the rubber deployant it was sold with. I have one.
I had sourced that strap. It was horrible; did not age well and began cracking and the areas prone to bending. Looks nice but that combines with the fact it is NOT waterproof is just stupid money spent for nothing.
The 2254s plump brother is 13.5 mm thick. But I guess you need that GMT complication. Looks great, great lume, 300m WR and great looks.
Did I mention it looks stunning?
I dont know the name of the lume, but I can tell the time when I wake up 5,6 or 7 hours after going to sleep without turning any lights on.
I never had a big problem with accuracy on my 2009 2254, before servicing it for the first time, I adjusted the watch once a month maybe and it was max 5 min off. After servicing I never think about it any more. When I set it to summer time It was under a minute off after three months maybe. ( Its more accurate than me for sure).
I like the "big" bezel numerals on my 2254, so you will probably get used to them on the 2234 as well. In fact I use the big minute markings on the bezel every day to time my tea. Eyes arent as good as the used to be.
I hope my ramblings can help you in any way.
