A crop update from NC Ohio. The corn does not look real good. The beans are 50/50. It all depends on when you planted. The earlier you planted the worse you are because the 3 weeks of drought hit at the wrong time. If you planted late the rains did arrive at the correct time for you to have a decent crop. I checked the field next to me and there were 20 to 24 pods with three beans per pod on the plants I looked at. I have absolutely no idea if that is good or bad.
Further updates to follow.

Here in NC Ohio it is 86 degrees and nary a cloud in the sky. See that little black dot in the pond? It's one of my grass carp enjoying the sunshine. What you are seeing is just his dorsal fin. He is huge.

Thanks, very interesting, 3 beans per pod are Good. 20-24pods per plant also isn't bad. But the key issue this year on bean has been the pod weight (how big are the beans in side the pod). Please keep posting if you have more development!

Just talked to my gentleman farmer. His crop is looking better than he thought. Should be in the 40+ bushel per acre for beans. This is still far short of his usual 50+ bushel per acre. No word on any corn.

The annual avian migration south is just beginning. Robins preparing for the trip with a bath on a 70° F day. Here on the western Canadian prairies, we have already had snow at some higher elevations. Night temperatures dipping very close to freezing.

Wrong coast. But you still imitate a seal swimming. Back in the early 70's I was a professional beach bum in Boca Raton Fl. area. Came face to face with a 6' Sand shark. More than enough of an experience for me.

Ok no photos so this post is already worthless but today we have the geese moving in on the harvested fields, for us a month earlier than usual which doesn't bode well for the coming winter 🙁
