Getting a foot today! Luckily the schools are closed tomorrow and I work from home so I can take my time cleaning it up.

A nice, balmy -23 in Maine, feels like -28. Supposed to be a good day otherwise.

Winter can certainly be annoying, but every so often it gives you something special. It was -18C this morning and we had a hoar frost. The whole neighbourhood was sparkling...few shots on my property:

When you get closer, you realize how incredibly fine some of this is:

This one was so thin you could barely see it with the naked eye...

Photos never really capture quite how sparkly everything is in real life, but this was amazing.

Even a breath of wind would cause things to start falling - these are holding on by the smallest of attachments:

As it warmed up and the wind kicked up, it all started coming down, so I took this video in slow motion - it looked like it weas raining diamonds...

This sort of thing helps make the winter a bit more tolerable. Well before noon it was all gone though.

Snow started yesterday and will keep coming through tomorrow. About 2 feet so far and could be another couple feet before it’s done.

Well, this is terrifying if I really think about it. As of last weekend, the snow in the mountains has started to melt, making this the lowest peak snowpack (less than half the median overall, with some watersheds at 1/3 of median!) and probably the earliest melt ever recorded in Colorado.
