Here in NC Ohio we got the first rain of the month yesterday. .01 inches. That's one hundredth of an inch. Last month we had around 1.3 inches with the average around 3.5 inches. A farmer friend of mine anticipates a 25% reduction in his bean harvest because the buds on the plants are wilting. 25% is hopeful as that was a week ago and no rain since. However, yesterday I drove through a real gulley washer of a thunderstorm 2 counties away from here. Hit and miss storms. They just keep missing us. Temps are in the very high 80's to low 90's. Heat index and humidity are even higher. The good side, have not cut grass in three weeks except near the pond.
Everything has turned back to green and looks good. However; the crops still are way down on filling the pods and ears. It's all about timing of the rain. When it was needed there was none. All the kings horses and all the kings men cannot help at this point. I'll talk to my friendly farmer and ask him what the status actually is and report back.

Only 12 degrees when we walked the pups this morning - first time I've worn pants in close to 3 months (been wearing shorts I'll clarify for those who may want to imagine something different).
These guys have not been buzzing much today...and we won't be hearing them for too much longer I expect.
Days are getting shorter too. It's all coming to an end soon enough...🙁
