104F here today. One can tell it's August. Hot and boring for weeks.

We do have a possibility of a reprieve over the weekend with a better than 50% chance of rain.

Perfect in Vermont for a little boondoggle...

Nice shot of Camel's Hump. My family gets a great view of it from their hilltops in East Montpelier.

Here in western MA we had our first day in months of desperately needed rain.

Here in NC Ohio we got the first rain of the month yesterday. .01 inches. That's one hundredth of an inch. Last month we had around 1.3 inches with the average around 3.5 inches. A farmer friend of mine anticipates a 25% reduction in his bean harvest because the buds on the plants are wilting. 25% is hopeful as that was a week ago and no rain since. However, yesterday I drove through a real gulley washer of a thunderstorm 2 counties away from here. Hit and miss storms. They just keep missing us. Temps are in the very high 80's to low 90's. Heat index and humidity are even higher. The good side, have not cut grass in three weeks except near the pond.

An update to my above post. As I work at home, I finished my lunch and announced that "since I have nothing to do the rest of the day I." The sentenced was finished for me with "will wash the house." This was spoken by SWMBO, She Who Must Be Obeyed.
Current temp 90
heat index 98

At least it is in the shade and the water is nice and cool. No nap today.

You must have had some rain. We have had zero. Or do you have sprinklers?

Mine is as brown as I have ever seen it in the 13 years we lived here. It's green down by the pond and in what passes for a low spot by my neighbors fence. Had some Queen Ann's Lace growing along the property line with the farmers bean field that I weed whacked. That's it. One thing I noticed and have no idea why, a lot more butterflies this year.

Perhaps because it is dry in that region. The pond and moisture in that low spot plus the Queen Anne's Lace is drawing them.

Rain again today! We have now had more rain in the first 7 months of the year (~425 mm, 17 Inches) than we get in an average year! We'd love to export some of it, if we could!

This was just posted for our area in NC Ohio. Not for today but Saturday afternoon through Sunday Evening. By golly we might just get some rain.

RAINFALL SATURDAY THROUGH SUNDAY SHOULD RUN 1 TO LOCALLY 3 INCHES IN THE WATCH AREA WITH AN ISOLATED SPOT OR TWO POSSIBLY SEEING UP TO 5 INCHES. WHEN THUNDERSTORMS OCCUR... RAINFALL MAY BE TORRENTIAL AT TIMES."

After reaching 102F this afternoon a cold front has moved into the area as well as some gulf moisture. We're at 75F with light rain just now. An amazing and welcome change.
