I'm very flattered by some of the comments in this thread. @Larry-S, I couldn't buy a review like that! Thank you kind sirs, every one of you!

A couple of points of clarification...

The Classic Edition of the Field Guide (ISBN 9780578524801) is a data-first, no-frills, book you might take to an auction or watch fair and scribble in the margins. It was designed to be a cross between a Lonely Planet City Guide and a Boy Scout Wilderness Survival Guide. Something to carry with you, and reference on the go (wave it in the air as you place that $1M bid for that Padellone!). It weighs in at 1lb 7oz (7.5" x 9.25") and travel bag friendly. And there's a Spanish translation coming May 1st too (ISBN 9780578670508)

The new Chevalier Edition of the Field Manual is a desk-reference (ISBN 9780578630823). Hardcover, 2lbs 10oz (8.5" x 11"), with new material and a LOT of photos. These are real-watches, not posed, museum pieces. Pictures come from the workbenches of some people you might know - Mike Hui, Phillip Ridley, Scott Baratz, Tanner Morehouse, James Hyman... and of course a substantial section on Space flown Rolex by @SpeedyPhill 😀

The release on May 1st will be low key. I don't have much of a marketing budget and frankly, collector's priorities seem to be elsewhere right now. It will be available on AMZ and bookstores including Waterstones and B&N. Early lead times might be long as bookstores (even AMZ) still need to order inventory.

I've been coy about plugging or otherwise announcing the book as I know moderators tend to frown on self-promotion. Especially at those "other two forums". If anyone wants to know more or might be willing to write me a review somewhere, please feel free to reach out - I'd love to hear from you.

Regards

-Colin

Just placed my order. I have to say that the price was a very pleasant surprise.

Pls be patient. It literally got released to the Supply Chain this morning and will probably take a few days before it starts appearing in the regional AMZ stores. And lead times are horrible. Delays of up to 3 weeks in the US. Simply too few healthy humans allowed out to print, truck, stack and sell them. Nobody's more bummed about this than me...

Here's a preview of the Submariner section with the text box about Ian Fleming's Naval Intelligence story as inspiration for the James Bond novels

@SpeedyPhill @Larry S, how is this book when compared to Mondani's books?
Can’t say. all i know is the field guide + web resources is a pretty potent combination. i’m looking fwd to the big book. All I own currently are Sala, Rolex Field Guide and MWO.
