Still no decent pics of the 7-8 area...

I ended up purchasing this particular example. Arrived yesterday. Seemed reasonable at £2k compared for what they usually go for.

I can confirm it is fully running, currently gaining +20s per day and big seconds hand doesn't reset to 0, but that's it. Nothing a service won't easily rectify.

In regards to the marks in the 7-8 area, from what I can see whatever it is, its sitting on top of the dial, rather than the dial being scratched. May be possible to be removed by a skilled watchmaker.

Be interested to know from the group if they think this is the correct (original) plexi crystal? Appears stepped, but currently slightly obscures the tachymeter.

Interesting. Hope you can have it removed. Plexi is a bit too high I think

Will keep the thread update. My watch guy is a bit busy at the moment, so I don't expect him to get around to it for a few months. Does anyone have/can send a pic of their plexi for reference?

I think an original UG plexi has a shape like this (sorry for the quality of the photo):

Very nice 22537 at Carese. Asking EUR 18k excl tax (but on hold within 24 hours...) https://www.antiquewatch-carese.com/mens-watch/UNIVERSAL/mo1758.html

It’s this watch:

Sold for 4.7K USD this last February.

Just had a better set of hour+minute hands fitted (the hands on the subdials were changed rather for the worse, I would say) and a service…

Hello All!

Newbie to the forum here, but long time lurker on some other vintage watch pages.
I recently acquired this UG Aero as my first foray into the world of UG. (ref 22538, cal.287)

This thread appears to be THE place for UG Aeros on the web.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the dial: To my eye it looked spot on; crisp clear even markings with an appropriate amount of patina... but having now read through this entire thread, I haven't seen another one without arabic numerals as presented here.

Clearly the lume on the sword hands has been changed, since it now covers the bluing. but it was definitely a long time ago as some corrosion has stained the hour marker, and radiation is confirmed 😀

Other unusual details are the bevelling on the lugs. Very keen to hear your thoughts onthe originality of this piece in general, and how all of this might impact value.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts, and please be kind if I am being retarded 😉

The font of your dial resembles this one: https://www.hashtagwatchco.com/prod...ero-compax-22538-steel-chronograph-wristwatch
