Chris (and Neil), congrats on another really entertaining episode! My partner and I listened to a couple of episodes together during a recent flight and she suggested that an episode on women in the watch enthusiast world and how they are/have been catered for by watch manufacturers would be interesting. Gotta say, I agree.
Anyway, awesome job, sir! 馃憤
Looking forward to hearing whatever you have coming up next.

I have an interview lined up with a friend of mine who used to race semi pro... she has watches from being co-pilot in the Mille Miglia a few times... they're big, men's, limited edition (to competitors) Chopards... think that could be interesting. 馃槈

Me too, she's a hoot to chat with at the best of times, when we get talking race cars, and I hear her stories of track side antics in the 90s... I think maybe 75% is not for public consumption... lest legal proceedings be bought by some of the top drivers in the world... 馃槈

A country pub, a drop of Tanglefoot, a bit of pub grub and your podcast.
Just got episodes 2 and 4. Already listened to episode 3. You seem to have a stash of fluent, coherent collectors, and you just wheel one out of your cupboard each episode. Nice work Chris!

Sounds like a lovely way to spend the evening Jonathan... other than my voice! 馃憤

Glad you're enjoying it 馃榿

What I like about the podcasts is really not knowing what to expect. Each one thus far has presented wonderful insights to of course watches, but, also the people being interviewed.

The standards that have been set are nothing short of wonderful. The whole production is incredibly professional, when one considers that this is just you and what you decided to take on. The Time4APint event. The website. The recording gear. The podcasts. Just wow!

The comments regarding 'more watch time please' I get. But happily found myself listening and engaged in understanding what makes a fellow member tick.
...
+1
I finally had a chance to listen to episodes 2, 3 and 4 during some flights yesterday and was thoroughly impressed by the proffesionalism and quality of each. I can appreciate your desire to learn from each one and 'improve' yourself somehow, but please don't overanalyze too much and turn the wonderfull casual conversation into a stoic scripted dialogue. I enjoy the style, it makes me feel like I'm sitting in a table next to yours and I'm 'overhearing' your conversation.

Keep up the great work Chris!

Something interesting that's coming out in a lot of the feedback, both here, and in private, is that people would like a longer podcast.

I committed to keeping things short, for fear of no one wanting to listen... but I'm going to loosen things up a bit, and let them flow... each week they've been slowly but surely getting a few minutes longer.
I would encourage you to keep the restriction in place, the current episodes are engaging from start to finish and I would venture a guess that this is in some part because you're editing so as to keep only the best material.

I remember an interview Howard Stern did with Barbara Walters talking about how editing content from her lengthy interviews was very challenging but that the pressure of doing so was a big part of making sure every minute was the best it could be.

Like the best dram, a limited quantity of high quality material is best enjoyed without being watered down... 馃槈

In some ways you're right... I do only keep the best material... editing out the top and tail so that no one hears me getting levels.

The rest of it... one take, no edit other than adjusting sound levels in post to take care of drops/rises caused by microphone positioning.

The reason it sounds like it does, is because it IS just a conversation 馃槈

Really? That's amazing! I'm even more impressed now to think this is the result of one continuous and fluid almost 'live streaming' type of recording. Wow, good on ya!

The reason it sounds like it does, is because it IS just a conversation 馃槈
The casual conversation is very compelling. If this continuous ~30min dialogue is what you consider "just a conversation", then I am clearly lacking in my daily conversations. I'm not sure any 30minute stretch of 2-way communication between myself and anyone in my lifetime has ever been as cohesive, interesting, succinct, intellegent or interesting as your podcasts! 馃槈 You are indeed a 'natural' then... 馃榿

I can vouch for this! Chris is very easy to talk to, and skilled and Pro at the interviewer's & podcaster's arts. I'd encourage any Members who can - and who'd like to - to get involved.

Mr @neilfrancis is the next to get the remastering treatment, and it once again dawns upon me that we are like a pair of excitable school children, talking over each other, waffling, and having too much fun by far! 馃榿

For those who've not heard this episode before, or have, but strained to hear what we were talking about, this is for you (all properly mastered now that I know what I'm doing).

it also features the gorgeous JLC that Neil has up for sale at the moment on this very forum!
