NOS period strap, genuine crocodie, sourced from Saudi!

Worth it, though.

How about you?

I personally am not a fan of bracelets. Luckily the Speedy I just got only came w a black leather strap....but opted to switch to this delightful tan Crown and Buckle Black Label example so I can now wear it with anything. All about the proper strap!!!

I can bore of a watch and a strap change totally changed the character and how it feels.
Not a bore at all, good sir.

I have managed with some success to curb my watch-buying urges by channeling them toward straps. Luckily on Japanese Yahoo! Auctions there are a few sellers—they might all be the same guy—who source great alligator and snake straps which get sent out from Bangkok at like $12-18 a pop. I have not looked into the ethical implications of this operation and have no plans to do so at this time.

Since I'm outside a lot during the summer, nylon NATO straps are a godsend and make a watch look badass as well. They look bulky but keep you from feeling like you have a heat element strapped to your wrist.

Oh my, I am definitely a follower of this motto. As someone once said, if I post all of my carefully studied watch/ strap combos your screens will melt.
Here’s a few. Most of those straps were bespoke commissions,
-blue croc from Atelier Rousseau to match the blued hand set of my WWII Royal air force watch, a friend made me another one from the same watch as a present;
-grey pilot strap from a German enthusiast for my US military LeCoultre Weems;
- colorful python from an Ebay maker of Panerai straps to match my lady Seiko,
- other lovely Italian craftsmen including one collector;
- and then there’s vintage straps and bracelets!

Talking about straps making the watch.... I just retrieved a bespoke strap from Atelier Jean Rousseau - it was a special project where I wanted a removable double wrap strap for a 1940s fixed lug watch. It was quite complex to create a strap with the right thickness for the rivets. I could not be happier. Those ladies manning the shop and making the straps are just lovely are so talented.

...a bespoke strap ...
Really nice looking watch! That new strap allows the watch to easily slide into a modern everyday wearer. Nice choice!

The watch + silver chain bracelet combination in some of these pictures is arresting. Is that sea snake on your Mido? I see those online sometimes but haven’t given one a try yet. Some reptile leather is soft and looks old and comfortable right away, but some others feel brittle and sandpapery.

The fact that you have a Weems and a Mido in your collection makes my heart melt. I have felt alone alone in the love of Mido- people just look at me funny...you know, Mido...the company that pretty but beat Rolex at the watcherpoof standard , kicking ass and taking namers from the 30’s-60’sc Mido...yew sure, show my your sub.

Thank you @krogerfoot, the orange hide on the Mido is not snake but stingray. Usually quite pricey but I found a couple straps priced reasonably on Ebay and so had it in my stash. It’s very comfortable.

Ps edit add: I really like the chain but I’ve been scolded by a collector that it risks damaging the watch cases!

As for the Midos @JwRosenthal you have no reason to feel alone here. There are a few very rich threads you can find with the search engine 😉
