Very well done, Sir !
Concerning the ZJ endlinks may be you should throw your NASA style fine mesh bracelet with curved ends (imo perfect for straight lugs speedy) into the ring. Is that a JB Champion or Forstner ? I think they are very hard to source, too.
Was just my idea. Good hunting !

It's NOS JB Champion, purchased from ebay a few weeks ago with a buy it now of like a hundred bucks. Was a bargain, I love these bracelets.

What a find and what a story! Enjoy it in great health! I may be able to help you with the ZJ endlinks, I can check for you if there are still some available.

That would be great, I'm definitely in the market for them -- have the ladder bracelet already.

i have not confirmed it myself, but the world expert that knows it the best told me that was the case. its one of the reason the "IG game" can be so bad (IMO) for honest watches. . .everyone wants perfect lume but in the case of the a386 the overwhelming majority of the time it means re-lume.

interesting this is *not* the case with the other el primeros (i don't know why). so you do see a384/a385 and a3817/a3818 with near perfect lume that is original and correct. and of course there are a386s that are look original so i am left to conclude they have never or rarely been exposed to air for service

interestingly on the a386 front--a polished mk i sold today on hodinkee head only in about 3 minutes for 14k. . .
With the incorrect crown but a honest feeling overall. Makes owners of honest watches happy 馃榾

Loved reading this post. The stories are often just as or more important than the actual watches. Congrats on the find and enjoy it!!!

more and more I feel like I'm less interested in being able to purchase the watch and more interested in FINDING the damn thing. Thanks for sharing such a great story.

Great story! The discouraging thing for everyone reading the barn find / flea market / charity shop type stories, is the realization that if you ever want to do similar, you'll probably need to spend all your time hanging around flea markets & charity shops 馃榾

Well done on spotting the watch in the flyer, though - that's what being a WIS is all about...

Love that watch. My buddy has one. Do the dials age poorly? Like old tudor dials or monte Carlo dials?

Couldn't agree more! And during all that time spent on seeking, you might as well earn the money to buy the watch hahaaa 馃榿

With the rarity and price of the ZJ endlinks has anyone found decent aftermarket examples we could use on our incomplete ladder bracelets for the time being?? Any help on finding a decent pair would be much appreciate by another A386 owner 馃榾

Lovely watch, in lovely case conditions.
I'd prefer the NASA bracelet on it! These finals are good but not proper...
