Amazing find...TRULY amazing. Very rare to hear about things like this in the current state of the market. What makes this so impressive is the preservation of lume. I notice a lot of A386's have cruddy lume on the dial markers, and it's remarkable (and refreshing) whenever one pops up like this. Enjoy it for years to come.

...and if you have to sell for some reason, I'll give you 100% more than you paid 馃槈

What a find !! Love the story and always wished such things will happen to me. As they say, the hunt for the watch can be as incredible as the watch itself !

i am told by one of the world's experts on zenith that for a386 if the lume is exposed to air it turns the green/brown color you see on many examples (it means they are honest and legit). most examples where the lume looks new and fresh are re-lumed. this not the case for other zenith el primero it had to do with the chemical composition of the lume on the a386. there are the rare examples where most likely the dial has never been opened and the lume looks like this. given the situation this looks to be one of these.

mega congrats on an amazing find/story

Is that so? Fascinating. Also discouraging if you own one as nice as the OP's here, because it makes you scared to actually open the case / get it serviced..

i have not confirmed it myself, but the world expert that knows it the best told me that was the case. its one of the reason the "IG game" can be so bad (IMO) for honest watches. . .everyone wants perfect lume but in the case of the a386 the overwhelming majority of the time it means re-lume.

interesting this is *not* the case with the other el primeros (i don't know why). so you do see a384/a385 and a3817/a3818 with near perfect lume that is original and correct. and of course there are a386s that are look original so i am left to conclude they have never or rarely been exposed to air for service

interestingly on the a386 front--a polished mk i sold today on hodinkee head only in about 3 minutes for 14k. . .
